3 Class 125.8 locomotives descending towards Haniska with a loaded iron ore train, 2 pulling and one pushing in the back.
The ŠRT (Širokorozchodná trať - Broad gauge railway) was built to serve the Ironworks near Košice with the necessary raw material (iron ore) directly from the (back then) USSR.
Trial operations began in 1966, and up until its electrification (3 kV DC) was completed in 1978, Class T679.5 solo, T469.04 double Sergeis and later T669.5 Bumblebees were used to haul these heavy trains.
With the electrification came the Škoda 67E twin-section locomotives, specifically built to serve the ŠRT, capable of working in pairs to fight the 17 ‰ inclines on some sections with the ~4200-ton freight trains.
In this image, the recently "retrofied" E469.5018/5017 is leading its consist through the snowy lands of eastern Slovakia, near Nižná Myšľa, with the 840m high Bradlo peak in the background.

Many parts of the Thai railways are still signaled with German semaphore signals. Their introduction dates to the construction of the Northern Line by German contractors in the early 1900s. Though the direct German involvement in the construction of the Thai railways was cut short by WWI, the signal style was adopted and continues to be used to this day. Here train 451 (Nakhon Si Thammarat – Su-Ngai Kolok) passes the northern exit signals at Phattalung station with SRT Alsthom 4301 leading.

Thailands North-Eastern Railway line day train #76 Nong Khai - Bangkok stops for passing another train. The norther segment of this line still uses the token signal system, thus the station manager waits for the uncomming token while the token for the next segment is still in place.
Wie dacht dat alleen kaaskoppen treinenspotters waren, heeft het mis...
Er was op deze dag meer mensen op en rond het station vanwege de extra stoomtrein van de jarige SRT.
