This young Squirrel is now visiting the Wild Garden in West Wales (Ceredigion) on a regular basis and seems to protect its food on the bird table with full body power 😄

A wild red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) enjoying a treat at the artifical water hole at the photo hide. The red squirrel sheds its coat twice a year, switching from a thinner summer coat to a thicker, darker winter coat with large ear-tufts between August and November. You can see the first long hairs on his ears.

Ein Eurasisches Eichhörnchen (Sciurus vulgaris) genießt eine Nuss am Fotoansitz. Eichhörnchen wechseln ihr Fell zweimal im Jahr. Im Sommerfell fehlen ihm die typischen Ohrpinsel, aber man kann sehen, wie auf seinen Ohren schon die ersten langen Haare wachsen.

What appear to be Autumn leaves swirling around this squirrel are the seed sail bracts of a lime tree. This year our trees seem unusually stressed and acers and limes in particular aborted their seeds long before maturity.

I saw this in the Florida Keys. It posed, so that I could make a photo.

In the morning i tried to find this squirrel and finally I found it. :)

Taken yesterday in my garden, the snow has nearly all gone now!

Caught this little guy carrying off the fruits of his labor

This little one looks like he is in fairyland, he was too cute to watch and capture. He finally after about 5 minutes found his acorn and our session together was over.
