Test run of a macro subject taken indoors with two desk lamps - exposed from 1s-9s @ f8-32(normalised to current temps with the Massive dev-chart app on the iPhone). These rolls were the first to be developed using guidance from www.rogerandfrances.com with their excellent advice on reduing fixing time with the spot-test (now down to 2-min fix) and using COLD water for washing to prevent emulsion scratching on final squeegee.
30s presoak in COLD tap-water, NO distilled water as Stourport tapwater is just fine (although remembering Roger & Francis advice to use filtered water for final wash when I move to hard-water Malvern). No stop-bath, just swill out twice with cold tap-water.

L'Atelier de Soierie - a silk-screening workshop cooperative / Silk-Screen is a printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the substrate momentarily along a line of contact. This causes the ink to wet the substrate and be pulled out of the mesh apertures as the screen springs back after the blade has passed.

This is how they clean the windows of the Brill Building, folks. Dude told me he fell asleep out there once. He's not even attached to that strap! Excuse me while I go puke.

Getting better at printing on paper. Less ink is the key, one thing that influences that is how hard you press down on the squeegee.
Affirmation #19 - September 25th, 2010
Today's affirmation comes to you ridiculously late and for that I apologize. Hopefully you found some alternate source of spiritual fulfillment, because I sure know I did! His name is James Tingey, 2nd year ceramics grad student here at OU and all around ball of awesome. Casual studio conversations and cigarettes shared at the kiln pad open conceptual doors and smash constraining windows when had with James. Another incredible grad here and future affirmation mentioned squeegeeing the 3rd eye the other day and that is pretty much James. Thank you sir, and goddamn I need to work as hard as you do.

I spent a good chunk of 07-07-07 taking pictures of anyone and anything I thought looked interesting.
Among my subjects were a group of young travellers (a.k.a. "squeegee kids") who had stopped to spend some time in Winnipeg as part of their summer cross-Canada tour, which had begun on the west coast. They had no problem with me photographing them, as long as their faces weren't shown.
One of the girls was also into photography, so we spent some time comparing digital camera photos before she ahd to go back to work with her friends.
This picture is of one of the couple in the group during a rare lull in traffic. I don't think any faces are required.

Our longest brief we received: "Reg Perfect and The Squeegees". This project was based around an imaginary band, which we had to promote and design for. I have experiemtned and used Print Screen for this T-Shirt.
It's a huge pet peeve of mine when other drivers don't put the squeegee back in the bucket that it came from so that I have to go searching for one... How about 4 of them in one bucket!!!

But... I'm an idler!
I just don't produce as much pollution as an internal combustion engine, particularly when I'm idle.
This may be handy to remind SUV-driving helicopter moms and dads to be socially and legally responsible when coddling their offspring.
I am sure that will go over well, walking up to the driver's window with a placard. People just LOVE being scolded by strangers at their driver side window.
Maybe a bucket and squeegee for a windshield wash would mitigate that? A clipboard?

I screen printed this using my niece's tshirt printing set. I cut out a schnauzer and paw print stencil, then hand painted in the collar and used a fabric pen to do the writing. Definitely want my own grown up screen and squeegee for my birthday.
Engaging in the art of Sister Corita Kent
In honor of the re-issued book “Learning by Heart” by Sister Corita Kent and Jan Steward, a series of events were planned. A silkscreen workshop at the Corita Center in Los Angeles was designed to engage the community in the spirit of the authors, propose that anyone would create something themselves, and contribute to a joyous ceremony in the manner of the 1960’s Mary’s Day’s celebrations organized by Corita.
Banners and shirts were adorned with words collected by Jan Steward and designed by Handbuilt Studio. People and children that pulled squeegees, poured inks and stared at their creation until it dried engaged in the celebration deeply and became treasure owners.
Conceived to engage even very young children, the workshop taught by making, and sharing a creative experience.
