My grandmother used to say that the best things come in small packages, mostly because I was always really tiny and she was too. She wanted to always let me know that I was special. Sometimes she would give all of us grandchildren presents and I would always know to pick the smallest because she intended it for me. I was thinking about that a few weeks ago and that was the spark of inspiration that I put into this picture. From there I started thinking about things like Gulliver's Travels and this idea was fully born. I think that a lot of different concepts can be pulled from this pic, and I love creating like that.
I got to shoot with model and all around person extraordinaire Devin Willow a few weeks ago when she was visiting California, and I felt instantly like I knew her. It is always fun to shoot with new people who you connect with. We did this shoot at the crack of dawn and barely made it. You can even see some sunlight hitting the grass! Her boyfriend had to stand in front of the sun to block light off of her towards the end...but we made it :-)

Photographed February 2021 / Praktica IV 35mm SLR Film Camera (converted to Square Format) with SMC PENTAX Takumar 28mm lens. The film was FOMAPAN 400 bulk stock metered ASA 320 developed in KTF-QP (a phenidone-hydroquinone formula which uses triethanolamine as alkali).
It doesn't snow that often in central North Carolina, so when it does one must make the most of it. My son was so excited to go outside in the early evening when the flakes started falling to make snow balls. When he stood illuminated by our house's motion light, it was an opportunity to capture him and the falling snow.
