About the Presentation
Query Tuning for Developers and DBAs
As a seasoned DBA, we often forget the basics of query tuning may be an area others haven’t been introduced to. Tuning can be a mystery for developers and DBAs that are starting out with SQL Server. Each operation and its cost can lead to lengthy research escapades, determining if the work is even worth the time to attempt a change in the overall execution plan. This session is going to discuss the basics of tuning; however, we can't end there. The second half of the session, the discussion portion, will focus on the key operations in the execution plan. The overall goal of the session is to take away knowledge on how to start with a query and use execution plans to refine it and turn it into a finely tuned process.

It's of no interest to most, but this is here mainly for linking to blogs.perl.org. For a personal project, I now have threaded forums working. With the right tools, they're incredibly easy to do. I can fetch all replies to a post, correctly sorted, with a single SQL statement. And I'm refreshing my CSS knowledge, too. The above is merely an list with a few and a handful of classes. I'll post more later for those who are curious about it.

...our new lurcher boy. I was going to wait awhile after Enzo, to let the cats settle down, but I saw this boy and couldn't resist ;o) He's about a year old, he's obviously had bad experiences with people and is quite nervous, but he's such a lovely boy who loves a cuddle, he's quickly gaining confidence :o)
