150 238 passing the sad remains of what had been Dringhouses Yard, on the south side of York. The 'Sprinter' is on the down Leeds line, probably a trans-Pennine service from Scarborough. These class 150/2 Sprinters had recently transformed the trans-Pennine services from civilised loco-hauled services to cramp, uncomfortable misery. This was a low point in rail travel, as BR struggled to update it's rolling stock under the Thatcher government.

Today was the first day of service for the Sprinter rail service in North San Diego County. The DMUs are built by Siemens, operated by the North County Transit District, and run between Oceanside and Escondido. Not techincally light rail, each car has a diesel engine under the floor. No wires!
From a clipping from Miroir du Cyclisme. Once again I am reminded of why today's racing leaves me cold, insofar as all the riders are encased in horrid helmets and sunglasses (not to mention ugly plastic (OK, carbon fiber) machines. You couldn't get a picture this dramatic of a sprint today...
The Ramsey Sprint takes place twice during each TT. Lively event with some really amusing entries, though this is one of the more serious machines

Here is a row of Sprint Cars from today back to the 60s. They have a lot of beautiful cars there. The top and front wings are more recent additions to the cars. The wings give the cars needed downforce so they can go faster in the turns. These cars race on dirt so it's harder to get grip than on your street car.

2-car Sprinter 150283 gets away from Cheltenham and passes Badgeworth on 21-11-25.
The working is the 2G55 1140 Cheltenham Spa to Cardiff Central Transport for Wales service and running 8 minutes late.
