End of a busy day and I was sitting with my feet up when Mac decided to join me, sitting across my legs. I then remembered the SOS theme and took a quick photo with my smart phone.

That smile..that warmth..that feeling of unconditional love even though you may have had the hardest time that day-is so comforting www.saatchiart.com/art/Drawing-WELCOME-HOME/980307/783987...

I have a real love/hate thing going on with this lens. Sometimes it works... other times, it's a complete pain in the arse!

To give you a little encouragement in the midst of these horrific fires going on in Australia, meet one of the dogs saving koalas from Australian wildfires - a true story:

abc7.com/5829669/

Thursday, January 9, 2020

As Australian wildfires endanger the lives of thousands of koalas, one dog is stepping up to save her fellow furry friends.

Taylor, a four-year-old English Springer Spaniel, is trained to sniff out koala fur and droppings, said her owner and professional dog trainer Ryan Tate.

To date, Taylor has rescued eight of the country's iconic marsupials from wildfires, which have destroyed more than 2,000 homes, claimed at least 26 human lives and potentially killed thousands of koalas.

Some of these animals were hospitalized, and others were taken to areas deemed safe, Tate said.

Tate and his skillful pup have been traveling along the east coast of Australia for nearly three years. Over her lifetime, Taylor has found more than 50 koalas.

Tate said when the air is still, koalas' scents descend from treetops to the ground, so when Taylor smells an animal, she will sit below a tree and point up.

In more difficult conditions, like the recent fires, she's also trained to find their droppings, and fresh poo is a good indicator that koalas are nearby.

ANOTHER WONDERFUL KOALA RESCUE STORY HERE:

A lovely memory of one of our Springer Spaniels on the moors.

This is my Poppy who is twelve and half, she had a seizure, it was very frightening, although I used to work with children who often had seizures, I had no idea what to do :(

Hopefully it's a one off and she doesn't have epilepsy or a brain tumor, sadly both are a possibility at this stage, my vet said we just need to wait and see now she is in a couple of weeks, so I am very worried at the moment, I know I am a bit silly, when it comes to my pets :(

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, your comments or criticism is very much appreciated, take care, stay safe and have a lovely evening !!

My two, very wet and weathered, wonderfully loyal, Springer Spaniels .... Mollie Munch & Rupert Bear :-))

Taken on one of our wet dog walks!

My adorable little bear x

Yes of course she has, This is Poppy my springer spaniel on our walk the other day she went in the stream, ditch and several hedges, it took me hours to get all the debris out of her coat.

Thank you for your kind comments, Take care, stay safe and have a wonderful day !!

As some of you will know Razz (on your right) has had a few health issues since he came to join our family. He heart (and recent fever in January) is having an effect on the quality of his life. Our walks are minimal and with his recent collapse being at home they are almost at a standstill!

We are still waiting to hear from the specialist cardiologist on his scan done on the 31st April!

We are going to have to contact them as we and Razz can't wait much longer .....................

We feel helpless and very upset and he is only 15 months old!

Hopefully things will get better soon x

I met this fine and energetic Springer Spaniel who ran around the field at 100mph, ran down to the river and barked at my rock balance (see my last photo) then ran back up the hill, had a shakedown, ignored his owner's commands and unwittingly 'posed' for a few photos.

Away from the grey of slate quarries, Darcy and I met a flock of four spaniels on a quick walk around Biddulph Grange Country Park. What beautiful dogs.

Not posted a pic of my boys for ages, so here they are amongst the garden flowers saying HELLO to you xx

I know its not the best quality shot but the look on both Rupert and Mollie's faces make me laugh!

After Mollie's visit to the vet, it was advised that she had a few days of bed rest and quiet time to help heal her poorly foot. Sadly Mollie is on steroids for her lung allergy and is unable to have painkillers, so its a 10 day supply of antibiotics and hope for the best!

This is a shot i could not resit taking, as she looks so sorry for herself and is being comforted by Charlie Fox !

I love this shot of Mollie and Rupert. It shows Mollie to be a wise teacher of doggy life :-))

My gorgeous wet Springer Spaniels ... Mollie almost 9yrs & Rupert almost 8months.

Every so often I like to get a picture of my three best friends together, of course this is not as simply as it sounds, the lay down and stay isn't a problem, but to get all three looking at me is :))

In the first comment box you can see their group images from previous years

Take care, stay safe and have fun this bank holiday (for those of you in the UK) have a wonderful week ahead my flickr friends !!

I think this sheep wondered if Rupert was a sheep or not!

After a three week break from serious walks, Mollie was in her element running around the reservoir at Blackstone Edge with me.

Still getting to know the workings of this camera, so apologies for not using the flash to light up Mollies face ...........

Our lad, showing his handsome side. Re-working a photo from earlier in the year, using Luminar AI. I do like the way it helps bring out the detail.

My gorgeous female Springer Spaniel "Mollie Munch"

Jack, a fun-loving Springer Spaniel. He and his new found friend Ziggy, a spirited Border Collie mix, enjoyed playing fetch the tennis ball at the park. It was low tide, so Jack's owner would throw the ball many times into the water. Both dogs happily ran and swam in the water to fetch it.. Pictures of Jack and Ziggy playing may be seen on my photostream.

Thank you for taking the time to view my photo. Your faves and/or comments are much appreciated.

My male springer spaniel puppy.

Thanks for all your kind comment :-))

I was bumbling along a public footpath yesterday morning when I saw a man (a farming type, judging by his attire) walking towards me with a dustbin in one hand and a full swing lid bin in the other, a little girl and ten dogs. The approaching melee forced Darcy and I to the side of the path and schnauzer and crowd had quite a meeting with lots of bottom sniffing and wagging tails. There was quite a mix of breeds including a little brown pup and I asked if there was any chance we could group them all together for a photo. The working springer spaniels were easy to get to sit and pay attention. As for the rest, I realised there was no chance to get them to assemble and quickly gave up. I just ended up with a brace of game dogs. Finely camouflaged for the background.

It was so great yesterday to be joined by Trev on our daily walk. Of late he has not been very well so i was delighted when he asked to join us x It was a really cold day so we did not walk far but as you can see he had his camera in hand xxx Hopefully he will feel well enough to uploading them over the weekend x

Awesome Autumn surrounds my Springer "Rupert" with its amazing colourful display!

On her first European trip!

Its not the clearest of images but i love her happy face :-))
