Life is short, live it to the fullest! Find happiness, spread joy & be kind to others, you never know what they're going through!
For Record Store Day, I went to a few different stores and Bric a Brac in Chicago was again having a few local bands play. Spread Joy is a little bit indie punk with a fun energy on album and a more assertive edgy quality live. It's kind of crazy to think about how all across the world, there are so many bands playing all the time! So, in case you want to listen to a local Chicago band, here you are!
Also, I love bands like The Cure and Blur but I also think we need to invest in the bands that are harder to find. This one is worth it!

A shimmer darts through morning's gleam,
As if the dawn released a dream.
With feathers forged in light's embrace,
The sunbird dances, full of grace.
Emerald, ruby, sapphire fire—
Each hue a note in nature’s choir.
No painter’s brush, no poet’s pen
Can hold the glow it shows again.
It doesn’t seek the thundered praise,
Just nectar sipped through golden haze.
Yet every flutter, every flight
Transforms the sky with colored light.
So small, so swift, yet grand its role—
A flicker bright that stirs the soul.
In bloom and breeze, in branch and sky,
Iridescent beauty passes by.
In what has become an unexpected annual tradition for coastal Belfast Maine, gigantic inflatable ducks are once again floating in the harbor, and for the third year running, the mystery of how they got there has yet to be solved.
SO EXCITED to introduce my new #psychedelicportrait series - celebrating expressive faces blasted with joyous colour. A major change of mood compared with my #harshbeautiful series.
HUGE thanks to handsome Jérôme Donny (A USA Listing Rules Consultant) for getting into the spirit of the shoot, and for being so patient with me while I wrestled with the tech. Must admit I’m thrilled with the results.
And yes, all of the colours are exactly as they came out of the camera!

Rejoice and Be Glad in this Day...Today!
🙌
Stop telling yourself, "I'll be happy when..." because chances are pretty good that you won't be. You'll just keep replacing one "When" with another, because "When" is rarely how you envision it's going to be.
Have a terrific Tuesday...Give Joy and Get Joy!
😊

Listening to The Dells; Stay In My Corner on repeat the last half an hour inspired this make shift piece. Here is the song:youtu.be/pangxXmZ-Vs. Picture:Cranberry Raspberry Juice in glass wrapped with my satin snuggie blanket. The sticker, "Love," is a WF Chicken.
The dogs sung (barked and yowled in melody). All smiles and tails wagging when I finally turned it off..
I know silly, but a hopeless romantic has always been trapped inside me.
Valentine's Day is Friday. It's a nice day to be reminded to hug (if they live near) and tell (pick up the phone, don't text ) your love ones you care. Because we are all busy these days and need the reminder, "Tomorrow isn't promised." A nice thinking of you, always helps a heart feel warm and glowing. Whether love, family or friends.
Light up your mood
Light up your world
Being joyful, will cheer up
Not just you, but others too/
Give it time,
you will get it back
in multiplied form,
when you need it bad/
Light up your mood, Light up your world
It will brighten up other's too!!
Happy friendship day!
“We speak much of the duty of making others happy. No day should pass, we say, on which we do not put a little cheer into some discouraged heart, make the path a little smoother for someone’s tired feet, or help some fainting robin unto its nest again. We have a mission to others – to add to their cheer. This we cannot do unless we have first learned the lesson of cheerfulness ourselves.” – J.R. Miller ~ Christian author who had over 61 books published in the late 19th and early 20th century
We cheer people on not because we believe they will win, we cheer them on because we believe in them regardless of the final outcome. When someone is running in a race, we don’t wait to find out if they won before we encourage them. We find joy in them purely because they are running, not because of what place they finish in. Imagine how unorthodox it would be to experience a race where no one cheered until the race was over and we knew what place each runner had finished.
If we cheer people on as they run the race, so too must we encourage others while they are working, not just once they have finished. Do you appreciate others for what they are able to give you, or by how hard they are willing to work for you? Too often we focus on the benefits that we receive from someone rather than the benefits that we can provide to them.
When people feel that the work they do is appreciated, they want to work that much harder for those around them who are building them up. We need to make people feel validated not by the finished product they have created, but by the effort that they put in each and every day. When we spotlight the hard work that someone is doing, we show others that they too will be appreciated for what they do, and how they do it.
Each race may only have one winner, but that should not take away from the fact that everyone else was still running just as hard. Competition is a good thing because it pushes us to be better, but it is competition, the want to be better than someone else, that can divert our gaze from what’s really important. When we work together, when we cheer each other on, we bring out the best in one another.
Cheering someone on may appear at first glance to only provide momentary support, but it is that sense of pride that you evoke when doing so, that will likely last a lifetime. We never know the difficulties that someone may face on their journey; we never know the long-term affect that showing support to someone may have.
It may feel at times like we are running the race alone, that there is no one by our side. But then all it takes is that one word of encouragement that can make a person realize they are never alone. Take the time to tell someone that you believe in them and that you know they can do it. It is our duty to others to build them up so that they can face the day head on and know that someone cares about the work they are doing.
Life is not about cheering others on because of what they have done for you, it’s about cheering others on because of what you can do for them. We are bound to our solitude until someone sets us free, until someone acknowledges that what we do matters.
We need to encourage those we work alongside, we need to provide value to those before we have received anything in return. The best leaders inspire by showing love during the process, not just once the product has been created. We need to realize that we are running for one another, not just for ourselves. It is in running the race, in never giving up, that we show others they can do the same.
Success should not be defined by what we create, but by how hard we work in the pursuit of greatness.

“Find a place inside where there’s joy, and the joy will burn out the pain.” – Joseph Campbell ~ American author and comparative mythologist
Heartache is not just a part of life, it is life. There is no day that discouragement takes a break, and yet; we continue to move forward. But how? How do we disallow for the negative to overtake us when we are continually bombarded with its misery?
Joy is not present in the absence of pain, it is our ability to see light even when we’re confronted with the darkness of man. But it is when we find it, against all odds, that we find there is a place like home.
We know not what the next hurdle will be, but it is not despair that is sure to follow, it is excitement. When joy is at the helm, the unknown is not despairingly unfamiliar, it’s uncharted land that we get to explore.
It may come to be an unending search, but the path that leads to felicity is one that we do not need to take alone. Our cheer in the face of agony sparks a flame to which others cannot help but be drawn to.
Which means that this day we are given one more opportunity to allow our joy to burn away the pain of those around us. When we accept affliction for all of its daily discomforts, we show others that they can do the same.
The only peg leg that torment has left to stand upon is its ability to convince us otherwise, to convince us that we are not in control. But we are. Our altitude is determined by our attitude because we stand side-by-side with joy as it charts our course for home.
The life that we will lead is determined not only by the decision for good versus evil, but by how unwavering our joy can be when the latter has its way.

“Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it.” – Charles Swindoll ~ Christian pastor, author, and educator
It appears at time that life may be against us. We believe that life’s troubles are a freight train coming at us and there is no time to get out of the way. Like Edward Murphy articulated in his law, we feel that if something can go wrong, it will go wrong.
There is undoubtedly a plethora of hardships that we face on a daily basis, but it is the way we perceive these difficulties that define the way that we overcome them. It’s not that the world is against us, it’s just that we allow ourselves to see it that way.
Each situation that we come across is actually nonaligned with negativity or positivity, it is the way that we look at it that determines which side of the spectrum it falls within. When we see things through a pessimistic lens, it is because we have become accustomed to viewing life as a force continually against us.
When we think this way, we not only bring ourselves down, we disallow for us to make the largest, positive impact on the lives of those we come across. It is our obligation to others that we realize that life is neither for us, or against us, it is there for the taking. We must choose each day to be the person that we want to be, instead of the person who is continually burdened with unconquerable adversity.
Positivity, like negativity, is infectious and it is in our best interest to spread the former rather than the latter. It is not that we will never be faced with calamity, it is how we deal with misfortune that shows others they too can overcome. Life may be a box of chocolates, but it is in not knowing what we will get that should excite us, rather than bring us down.
Life will ultimately be what we perceive it to be; it is enjoying the struggle that makes it all worthwhile. The best part is that we get to choose what life looks like; we get to choose how we embrace the day. And everyday that we awake we have an opportunity to make an incalculable impact on the lives of others when we realize that there is nothing more worthwhile for which to live.
How do you embrace the day? Do you let it take you over, or are you the one in control? Remember that it is not just your destiny that is in your hands, it is those that you unknowingly impact who will also share in the outcome. It is not about good versus bad, it’s about what we see when we look around, and how we can help those whose eyes have yet to be opened.
Remember that when life appears to be barreling down the tracks, you can either let it crush you, or you can jump on for the ride. And it is your attitude that determines how much fun you will have along the way.
(It is not the train we need to be worried about, rather, it’s how we’re going to face it when it comes.)

“Nothing is black or white, nothing’s ‘us or them.’ But then there are magical, beautiful things in the world. There’s incredible acts of kindness and bravery, and in the most unlikely places, and it gives you hope.” – Dave Matthews
Kindness will always be our best defense mechanism. In the moments when we feel angry or sad, instead of withdrawing into our own self-pity, we need to fall back on kindness. It is when we are most afraid, it is when we feel most vulnerable, that love is our only way out.
Being kind in any situation is not only the easiest thing to remember, it’s the best way to diffuse a situation. It is when we retort with affection that we make others question their negative intentions. It is commonplace to treat others poorly who have done the same to us, but that’s how we know it’s not the right thing to do. We need to love uncommonly in order to turn back the tides of selfishness.
When we fear what others will think of us we need to act with compassion. When someone has shown us a lack of respect, we need to show them grace. When we don’t know what to do, or how to act, we need to be kind. The truest way to overcome fear is to fall back on benevolence.
When we engage with others, whether it be in person or online, our focus should always be to spread more joy than we are getting in return. The strength of an individual, and of a company, lies in how they treat those who disagree with everything they believe in. When your driving force is kindness, others will want to join you on the journey.
When a ship is lost at sea, sailors do not search for more darkness, they look for a beacon of light to guide their way home. We can either be a part of the darkness, or we can shine a light so that others can see. The decency of humanity is, and always will be, in how we treat others, regardless of how they treat us in return.
Hostility cannot be overcome by more hostility, in doing so, we add fuel to the fire of misunderstanding. The greatest enemy of hostility is kindness because it bewilders those who do not understand why their hate is not returned with more hatred.
The question is whether we want to sail into darkness, or be the light guiding others home? What is your first inclination when you come across someone new? And how do you treat those who have shown you disrespect? What is your defense mechanism?
There is nothing easier to remember than kindness, because like the truth, it’s who you really are inside. It is when kindness may feel like the hardest thing to do, that we know it is the only thing to do; it is the only thing that really matters.
