Seilebost beach on the isle of South Harris, Scottish Outer Hebrides on an overcast day. Even with the murky light the beauty of this beach, one of a series of splendid beaches along the South Harris West coast, becomes pretty obvious.
The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.
I visited islands of happiness... I came back....
but in dreams I am.. far, in the most beautiful place on earth
This paradisiac group of islands, which enjoys a wonderful climate with a constant mild temperature through all the year and splendid beaches of fine sand, consists of 7 larger islands (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro) and a few smaller ones (Alegranza, Graciosa, Montaña Clara, Roque del Este, Roque del Oeste and Lobos). Surprisingly, the landscape of each of the major islands is radically different from the others.
Already Greeks and Romans reported on this archipelago of volcanic origins, and called it the Happy Islands, Garden of the Hesperides, Atlantida, ... Some historians suppose that the legendary continent Atlantis was located here.

Sunrise coincided precisely with low tide, allowing me to capture a mirror reflection of a beautiful winter sunrise on this splendid beach in the Algarve. The sun rises perfectly in line with the beach at the end of December. It is just you and your thoughts in this spectacular theatre of light...

The legendary 85km South Coast Track negotiates the lonesome coastline of Southwest National Park, Tasmania, with nothing between the coast and Antarctica but thundering ocean waves.
The trek crosses two mountain ranges to avoid sections of impassable coastline and long sections of open plains behind the coastline; it only follows the coast where there are (splendid) beaches.
Local experienced bushwalkers rate South Coast Track as "moderate", leaving some space on their grading scale for pathless rambling across wild Tasmania; for an average hiker, though, this trek may well belong to the more difficult ones, especially in adverse weather.
-----
After three years, I was fortunate enough to return to Tasmania, literally across the globe and 10 time zones; four flights were needed to get from winter Prague to early summer in Hobart.
Hiking the iconic South Coast Track was stunningly beautiful. That sense of remoteness and unspoiled wilderness... each day was different, and all the seven days spent on tackling the South Coast Track contributed to an unforgettable experience in this very unique landscape located on the other side of the Earth.

Situated on Cornwall's North coast, Perranporth has a splendid beach of golden sand which is 3 miles in length. In the 19th century Perranporth was a tin mining village. It is now a family resort attracting surfers, sunbathers and sand yachters. It also has a golf course and boating lake and there are fine cliff walks in the area.
The name derives from the name of the saint, St Piran, who had his oratory there in the sand dunes, known as Penhale Sands, above the beach. He is celebrated in Cornwall annually on St Piran's day, March 5th.
This is also Poldark Country and Winston Graham wrote his first Poldark novel whilst living in Perranporth.
Una magnifica spiaggia sul mar Tirreno in ambiente (quasi) incontaminato tra Follonica e Punta Ala (Toscana Italy). Può essere raggiunta con una breve camminata nella macchia mediterranea che si spinge fino alla spiaggia.

A splendid beach on the Tyrrhenian Sea in an (almost) uncontaminated environment between Follonica and Punta Ala (Tuscany Italy). It can be reached with a short walk in the Mediterranean scrub that goes down to the beach.

EXPLORED!!! Highest position: 72 on Monday, September 6, 2010
Islas Cies, August 9th, 2010.
I got out from my tent 40 minutes before sunrise to shoot, and I have been pretty disappointed by some heavy clouds which blocked the splendid colors of
pre-dawn. I shot a few wideangles view before switching to the 70-200. Fortunately, the strong haze suddently turned pink and gave the scene a fantastic mood,
which paid me off for the early morning wake-up.
I cannot tell you how much I loved this place; I'm into processing many captures I got there, and everytimes it feels like I'm on one of those splendid beaches!
I just placed an order for my notebook replacement; can't wait to try my new quad-core with 8gb of ram and FULL HD display.

Serrated ridge of triple-peaked Cul Mòr.
Pyramidal summit of Stac Pollaidh.
Stepped profile of Cul Beag and the
northern slope of Sgòrr Tuath,
rise from this Wester Ross horizon.
Archaic giant monoliths epitomise
this distant landscape.
Achnahaird beach stretches north
to south in its splendid bay.
Mountains, hills,
beaches, headlands,
cliffs and islands,
rivers and gorges.
Forests in sheltered valleys,
a myriad of azure lochs and lochans.
An ancient terrain evolved and carved over 3 billion years.

Awesome.

Conil De La Frontera is renowned for its splendid beaches like Batles and Fontanilla but west of this are some excellent small beaches and coves heading out to Cabo Roche.
One of these is Comacho Cove with its bunker, possibly World War Two?, I am not sure as to how crowded these coves are in summer but in winter they are deserted and beautifully peaceful.
Excellent blog on walking the area and others

Pembrokeshire has yet another landscape and coastline
that appeals to me greatly.
Like other ancient western fringes of the U.K.
such as Cornwall, Devon and Western Scotland,
it has spectacular bays, dramatic cliffs, splendid beaches
and fishing ports full of charm, history and interest.
I love St. David’s and its Cathedral in the far west.
Fishguard may be an important ferry port but retains its picturesque Inner and Outer harbours.
It is steeped in history and lore, particularly the wonderful descriptions of scenes and lifestyle by Dylan Thomas in writings like “Under Milk Wood.”
Inland are the ancient, rocky moors of the Preseli Hills,
reminiscent of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor in England’s South-West.
Prehistoric settlements and symbolic Standing Stones are very evident, going back thousands of years.
Wales and Pembrokeshire have a great deal to commend them.

Met these brisk children at hot noon when they were busy with fishing on far-reaching waves, but camera raised curiosity among them and took a short break to posing with their big catch. Often their playfull fishing would allow small earnings for their holyday spend. Shot from the coastline on the way to Muttam , splendid beach station, edged with rocky hills and coconut grooves located 38 K.M away from Kanyakumary , Tamilnadu.

Palawan Philippines:
The island of Palawan stretches from Mindoro to Borneo in the southwest. It lies between the South China Sea in the northwest and Sulu Sea in the southeast. Palawan is considered to be the Philippines' last ecological frontier. The province boasts many splendid beaches and resorts and it is where the Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is located.
