Taken at the Southport Spit....trying out my new wide angle lens on a very cloudy moody Easter Sunday. If you look closely you will see the heads of some brave (silly?) souls in the water.

The Olympic Peninsula is home to the longest natural sand spit in North America.

The Dungeness Spit just north of Sequim, Washington, boasts breathtaking views with rich maritime history, and it serves as a vital wildlife refuge for birds and mammals. It stretches nearly seven miles north into the Strait of Juan de Fuca and continues to grow by around 13 feet each year.

Thank you for your visit; wishing you a pleasant and enjoyable day!

When I first heard this sound

I couldn't put it down

It made my life complete

Ain't it neat

And when I went to bed

It went clawing at my head

It made me feel so dirty

Made me feel so clean

I want be your rock n' roll

I wanna be your rock n' roll

Ya know I wanna be your rock n' roll

And it's only 'cuz I like it

Ooh yeah, I like it

Oh, yeah

And if I can be that

Then put me in your hat

And wear me on your head

Yeah, that's what I said

Well, if I can't be that

Then pour me in your cup

C'mon drink me up, c'mon drink me

I wanna be your rock n' roll

I wanna be your rock n' roll

Ya know, I wanna be your push n' pull

And it's only 'cuz, I like it

Ooh yeah, I like it

Oh, yeah

And you know I like it when you spit

Oh, I like it when ya spit

And when you do that

You know I'm getting wet

Wear me on your head

Yeah, that what I said

I wanna be rock 'n roll

I wanna be rock 'n roll

Ya know I wanna be your push n' pull

And it only cuz' I like it

Ooh, yeah, I like it

Oh, yeah

I wanna be your rock n' roll

I wanna be your rock n' roll

I wanna be your heaven n' hell

I wanna be your push 'n pull

'Cuz I like it

I wanna be your rock n' roll

It took three attempts to start so it had quite a bit of unburnt fuel in the engine.

The Spit (An Oitir) is a shingle bar extending approx. 1 mile into Loch Fyne from Otter Ferry, restricting boat access to the upper reaches of the loch to a safe channel beyond the buoy which can be seen in the distance to the left of the spit.

Before venturing out onto the spit it's essential that you know the state of the tide, since it rushes into the loch very quickly.

A ferry used to run across the loch (from Otter Ferry to West Otter Ferry) from the 1700's right up until 1948 and both piers still exist.

It's thought that Otter Ferry comes from the Gaelic 'Oitir', rather than from the prevalence of otters.

There's also a superb pub at Otter Ferry - The Oystercatcher.........

We took the opportunity to meet some friends for lunch in Manly and what better way to travel than by two feet along the Harbour Trail from Spit Bridge. This was our starting point for the 10 kilometre hike

Fagradalsfjall, Iceland, 2022

Seldom we are made to understand the magnitude of those powers that boil beneath our feet. It is our last day on Iceland on only yesterday anoher volcanic eruption started 30 km away from Reykjavik. Our luck, because it is a rather small eruption of a rather small volcano that is not situated beneath a glacier. Unlike 2010 air traffic will not be halted.

... and food.

Nuthatches are funny little characters. Returned for a second bird shoot. This guy was here again. I've affectionately named him 'Ginger'.

His behaviours are so funny, he doesn't seem to mind if another bird sits next to him, he will just continue to eat away without a care in the world. Let's hope an Eagle doesn't turn up, Ginger would end up being dinner!

He's a messy sod when he eats, also very fussy, throws the food out he doesn't like until he finds something worthy. Really amusing to watch. This photo was captured at one of those hilarious moments.

I found this small (about 1.5cm ish) looper caterpillar in the garden today. This pose put me in mind of a spitting cobra :D

Still can't get down to the beach after work yet but it won't be long.

Some harsh conditions with a heavy shorebreak and very difficult to get the exposure right. Found an additional piece of wood for some foreground interest.

Quite pleased with my first shot. Quite often find that either the first shot or the last is the best one of a session.

Goose Spit Park is a small peninsula within the City Of Comox. The peninsula with it's beautiful beaches creates a safe harbour for small boats.

Spit The Dog Kazakhstan 1999

Spit the Dog was a huge TV star in the 1970's and even appeared on some chat shows. Many believed he had been kidnapped, and some thought he had even suffered a similar fate to Shergar the race horse. Though in May 1999, I accidentally bumped into him. Living the high life from his Yurt in Kazakhstan, every night he was having wild party's with many of his bitches.
