Dave has adorned the beautiful apricot whorl of this 11 1/2 inch Tibetan support spindle with his signature leaf motif. The shaft was crafted from pau ferro and the weight of this spindle is 49 grams.

Nice turn out for the wool spindling class at Live Oak Branch Library. Everyone had fun and learned a new craft!

12 gram Lilac Kuchulu with Kingwood Shaft. It spins like a dream! The fiber on it was a sample included with the spindle, targhee wool (mountain top) from sweetgrasswool. Yummy stuff to spin.

Examples of both types of spindles that I have made.

I am learning to spin yarn on this simple device - a drop spindle. Basically a stick with a hook on the end, and a weight (the disk) to keep the momentum of the spin going.
