Just 5 red hot cayenne peppers, harvested last fall have lasted the winter without seeing a cooking pot. They remain a spicy decoration, backlit by warm afternoon sunlight.

The Spicebush Swallowtail Butterfly is exceptionally beautiful. Striking with either its wings open or closed I was glad to get a picture of both :)

Spicy to me doesn't necessarily mean "hot". It means using tasty spices and this is one of my favourites - Cassia Bark. I use it all the time :)
This was a bitch to shoot. I tried to do as much in camera, but it was just too hard, so this is a combination of 4 shots taken in succession of the pepper and marshmellow burning.

I improvised these, so I don't have a recipe (I know you'd ask!). But you'll probably get something similar if you make basic vanilla cupcakes and add some ginger, cinnamon and chopped rhubarb. There's also a great rhubarb muffin recipe in Vegalicious!

Date night
Friday night was date night at a burlesque performance. Yes, I see a lot of burlesque.
This is my spicy Valentine look. Normally, I would have worn tall boots with a treacherous heel, but my healing ankle demanded something more practical. I ended up loving the western boots, instead. Spicy!
Jacket, Max Azria (consignment). Cami, Romwe. Skirt, Tulle (thrifted). Boots, Nine West (thrifted).
Thin noodle with homemade minced meat curry miso paste prepared with multiple spices and peppers in tonkotsu broth blended with spicy fragrant oil, served with bean sprout, simmered pork belly, pork lion and coriander, and top with a Tomago.
