Clio's transgender speech therapy semesters (both at GMU and UDC) always start with this industry-standard survey of how a trans person's speech ability affects their dysphoria. This was filled out on 2018/06/14, at the beginning of Clio's 2nd semester / 9th speech therapy session. Clio then used photoshop to add red "X"s representing how she feels as of 2019/03/22 -- at the beginning of her 5th semester / after her 36th speech therapy session. A lot of progress represented here. [NOTE: No red "X" means no change between 2018/06/14 and 2019/03/22]

Clio thinks she hasn't been misgendered on the phone, not even once, since around the time this survey was taken (9 months ag0).

This is a screen print the news sheet I made for Pearl to take to school tomorow.

I did this because a comment someone made on the mosaic image.. I have been doing these news sheets most weekends for Pearl to take into school (and she shows them to family too) to assist her speech, for well over 2 years. The speech therapist loves them and occasionally she has photocopied them to use in the speech therapy class lesson. Sometimes I get her to do some writing on it, before I laminate it. This one has 'gingerbread man' written in the gap under 'They were really yummy'. I have loads and loads of these, they are like a living diary, which the girls love. We occasionally get them all out and they talk about what was reported in 'Pearl's news'.

I use Canon Photo Record (which comes with Canon Zoombrowser) to make them, so these images are just a screen print saved as jpeg...I will add some more.

Last week, 15 employees of Acclarent volunteered at Interplast headquarters. Acclarent is a business unit of Ethicon—and Ethicon is one of our major in-kind donors.

The employees prepared approximately 700 oral health speech therapy kits for our Nepal speech therapy program. (Speech therapy is often needed after surgery for repairing a cleft palate.) These kits include small items like tongue depressors and dental mirrors for the therapist to evaluate and work with patients to improve their speech, as well as toothbrushes and toothpaste for dental hygiene.

“Having the Acclarent volunteers in the office was fantastic,” said Teresa Olson, Interplast development coordinator. “Seeing Ethicon again lend it's strong support to our program—and the employees of Acclarent give up their time to help supply our Nepal speech therapy camps—was such an inspiration. I can't imagine how we could have made all of those kits without them…plus, they were a total blast!”

Interplast is grateful to the Acclarent volunteers and for Ethicon’s long-term and continuing support.

Crap. I'm hung over today. This sucks. Going to class hung over? Not since 1997, man. Not since 1997. That's 21 years! A whole new drinker could have been incubated and grown to age 21 in the same period. THEY should probably be the one drinking my alcohol

n SPEECH Therapy we cause the kids to talk easily. Because of discourse issue youngsters might be delayed to get words and the capacity to shape their mouth and tongue in the arrangement of words can be deficient.

Flowers and card for my graduation ceremony tomorrow - they were there to greet me when I got home from work!

Recently I came across a letter from an aunt many years ago, who was finding out about our family tree. I realised again that the twin sister of my father's father's father (OK, great-grandfather) ran away to the USA and became a nurse. Her name was Eliza Anne Bennett Jones, and she became private nurse to Ida McKinley, wife of the future president. This was kinda weird, as I absconded somewhat suddenly to this continent, and am now in the medical profession too - but no-one in the White House has contacted me yet.

Mohammad is glad about his new hearing aids, and so are his grandchildren: "Now, when the kids talk to me, they don't have to yell or repeat everything several times."

"What draws people to be friends is that they see the same truth. they share it." C.S. Lewis

I'm so happy for my precious friend, Kathleen, a published author and forever friend! What a blessing to watch, to cheer, to clap for her on this journey.l Books available on Amazon-

We saw a presentation regarding the UDC Speech therapy program. Clio later did one of her four semesters of transgender speech therapy over at UDC.

We went to Capital Trans Pride. Definitely the most of Clio's people that she's ever been around or seen at once. A pretty awesome experience, even if it was really early and really short.

1st official day of weekly speech therapy with the gal we've been on the waiting list for over a year! Perfect timing. As he is the right age for it now and is receptive to learning now. She has a companion dog that Max LOVES and I feel a lot of warmth in my heart during these sessions. She is REALLY Good. He's signs new words each visit. We've seen her every few months since he was 7 weeks old. Started him on oral motor therapy as soon as we could. So glad other mom's suggested it.

Clio finally got into the speech therapy program she had been waitlisted on! A spot opened up with less than 24hr notice, and Clio managed to grab it. Here is Clio showing Carolyn what she learned at her first voice session. Her fundamental male speaking pitch was 109Hz, and her new goal was to speak at 180-200Hz. Clio jumped up to 180Hz pretty instantly. However, 9 months later, when Clio views this video, it seems low-pitched and less feminine to her, compared to the present day.

There are various types of Cerebral palsy that involve different parts of the brain. Cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder affecting a child's coordination, motor skills and muscle tone. In most cases, cerebral palsy is cause by brain damage, which occurs while the child is still in the utero, or shortly after birth.

Latifa suffers from a neuro-sensory loss of audition, but thanks to the hearing aids she just received, she is able to gradually recover most of her audition.
