The 1910 Harris County Courthouse is a six story structure of neo-classical design topped by a prominent clerestory drum and dome. It occupies an entire city block, called Courthouse Square, in the oldest section of downtown Houston near Allen's Landing. This square has served as the site of the seat of government in Harris County since 1837. It is the fifth courthouse to stand in Courthouse Square on a site set aside for that purpose by the Allen brothers, founders of Houston. The site and the building have figured prominently in the history of Houston and Harris County. When Augusts C. Allen and John K. Buns made of puff yeast dough with apple filling.
Wheat flour / Flour - 600 g
Milk - 300 ml
Yeast (Dry) - 8 g
Sugar - 4 tsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Chicken egg - 2 pieces
Butter (Chilled) - 300 g
Dissolve yeast, 1 tsp of sugar and 1 tablespoon of flour in 100 ml of warm milk. Leave in a warm place.
Add 2 eggs, 3 teaspoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt and the remaining milk to a bowl. Beat with a whisk.
Sift flour into a large bowl. If making a dough for sweet pastries, add vanillin here to taste.
In the middle we make a depression and pour the egg mixture. We mix.
Then add the yeast mixture, knead the dough. The dough should not be soft, otherwise it will tear when working with it. It must be well kneaded, dusting with flour, so that it is not sticky.
Put the dough in a bowl greased with vegetable oil, cover with cling film and put in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Roll out the dough into a 50 * 30 rectangle.
Divide it mentally into 3 parts.
On the middle part, spread half the chilled butter in small pieces or three on a grater. Cover with cling film and a rolling pin to evenly distribute the butter over the entire middle part of the dough.
Cover with the second part of the dough. Pinch the edges of the dough.
Again we spread the second half of the butter and also use a film and a rolling pin to distribute the butter over the dough.
Cover with the third part of the dough. We pinch the edges.
Sprinkle flour on both sides. Roll out again into a rectangle 50 * 30 cm.
Fold the rolled out dough into a booklet.
Sprinkle with flour and roll for the third time into a rectangle 50 * 30 cm. Fold in a book, then in half. Wrap in plastic wrap and put in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or in the freezer for storage until the right moment.
After 30 minutes, you can work with the dough. Roll out the dusting with flour. Cut with a cold knife. Bake in an oven preheated to 220 degrees.
From the specified amount of ingredients, 1400 g of dough is obtained.
For filling:
Peel and chop 4-5 apples. Place apples, granulated sugar and butter in a saucepan. Obtain, stirring continuously. Cool and spread over the dough in small portions. Collapse with an envelope. Arrange on a baking sheet, brush with an egg and bake at 100 degrees for 10 minutes.
The Gate of Felicity is the entrance into the Inner Court , comprises the private and residential areas of the palace. The gate has a dome supported by lean marble pillars. It represents the presence of the Sultan in the palace. No one could pass this gate without the authority of the Sultan. Even the Grand Vizier was only granted authorisation on specified days and under specified conditions. The gate was probably constructed under Mehmed II in the 15th century. It was redecorated in the rococo style in 1774 under Sultan Mustafa III and during the reign of Mahmud II. The gate is further decorated with Qur'anic verses above the entrance and tuğras. The ceiling is partly painted and gold-leafed, with a golden ball hanging from the middle. The sides with baroque decorative elements and miniature paintings of landscapes.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!
Today is an orange day at Color My World Daily and the theme at Crazy Tuesday is hobby. And of course Mr. Teddy Bear is back with us, to celebrate Happy Teddy Bear Tuesdays.
The first hobby of Mr. Teddy Bear is photography but it was specified in the description of the theme that we cant choose photography. So Mr. Teddy Bear decided to show us his second hobby: reading and collecting books.
At one point, Mr. Teddy Bear was on the hunt for very tiny and vintage books. so he has a rather big collection of old prayers books, tiny dictionaries in different languages and a few miniature books on different subjects (like maths or knitting for instance)…
Even if his hobby takes a lot of space in his house (remember Mr. Teddy Bear is a miniature so his house is very tiny !!) , Mr. Teddy Bear loves collecting old books ! And so do I ! I can’t resist a vintage, old book with character !
And you know what else I cant hardly resist ? A cup of coffee and an amazing video meeting with my colleagues… and Nutella, and an egg, and also gin and tonic….Of course the video meeting is a joke but i have to participate anyways… I wish you all an amazing day and see you later my friends !!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!
This is what happens when sisters get together... ;)

The Dr. Eugene Clark Library is in Lockhart, Texas. When I wasn't taking pictures of commodes..:) I was taking architecture pictures. Lockhart isn't a large city but it has some great looking old buildings. Here's some info on it:
This unique and historically significant building was built with a $10,000 bequest from Dr. Eugene Clark. Dr. Clark was a native of New Orleans, and his father died on the battlefield during the Civil War when Dr. Clark was only three.
In 1896, Dr. Clark left Lockhart to study in London and Vienna. In 1897 he returned to Texas to set up practice in San Antonio in his new specialty -- ear, nose and throat. While practicing in San Antonio, Dr. Clark became very ill. He went to New York for surgery. On his way to New York he came through Lockhart to see his old friends. In New York his condition was pronounced incurable and he left to return to the only home he had known in New Orleans.
On his death bed, with Mr. Purcell and Miss Young by his side he dictated a will specifying that the citizens of Lockhart should have a library and lyceum. His will left $10,000 to the people of Lockhart, of which $6,000 was to be used for construction, $1,000 to buy books and the remainder was to be put in a trust to maintain the building and purchase new books.
Wish you all a beautiful week, lets be confident..............
....................even if the new beta version will kill many functions( exspecialy groups and others admin work) and the pleasure to be here.................
unless they are making it at least as good as this last version ( the older 2 are gone .........)
I specify for those who haven't seen the Beta page;that there is NO white area under the pictures for descriptions / comments / invitations / flickr Award Counter
Only a narrow sidebar to the right of the image ,showing ONLY the last 4 comments
White print on a black and depressive background, that hurts the eyes
No sense. Hard to write comments exceeding 2 or 3 words
We can't see who faved our pictures
We can't see the groups the pictures appear in ( except only 8 )
Awards images. are not shown
Invitations are not visible ( except for the last ones only in "Recent Activity").The oldest are lost
For admins group management will become a work more and more difficult or even impossible
Some groups might close......and groups add visibility to our pictures
They allow us to admire beautiful works and to meet with great photographers

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!
Today is a blue day at Color My World Daily. And at Looking close on Friday we celebrate savoury food !! And since we all know by now that I’m on a diet (yes, again and dont worry it is a very, very common thing in my life lol. I call it diet but honestly it is only to make me feel good about eating Nutella, eggs and drinking gin and tonic like a sailor lol) and that I love eggs, I could not resist to make another egg picture for this theme. Also, i should specify that I’m very, very bad at cooking (and honestly I hate it lol) so eggs are the perfect food for me (and my cooking skills). They are savory and very good for your health.
So lets have an egg tonight, just to celebrate the start of the weekend ! And maybe some gin and tonic, just to make it even more special ;-). See you later my friends !!
Stay safe and well !! And greetings from Montreal !!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!
Whilst not the biggest of the major glaciers in Los Glaciares National Park, Spegazzini Glacier is a hugely impressive sight, if for no other reason than the sheer size of its wall, which can tower as high as 135 metres (440 feet).
The Spegazzini glacier is one of the bordering glaciers between Argentina and Chile after the Agreement to specify the route of the limit from Mount Fitz Roy to Cerro Daudet in 1998 . The lower section of the glacier is located in Argentina, in the Lago Argentino department of the Santa Cruz province . Its source is in Chile, in the province of Último Esperanza in the Magallanes region . It is protected by the Bernardo O'Higgins and Los Glaciares National Parks.
It has an area of 134 km² and an average width of 1.5 km . The glacier originates from the South Patagonian ice field and flows eastward, reaching the Spegazzini arm of Lake Argentino . Its main characteristic is the great height of its front, which reaches 135 m, making it the highest in Los Glaciares National Park and one of the most important. The vegetation around it produces a marked contrast of colors, produced by glacier erosion, humidity, wind and the sun.
It owes its name to the botanist Carlos Luis Spegazzini , who was the first to study the local flora.
The glacier is fed by the Mayo Norte and Peineta glaciers. In addition, it has the peculiarity of not showing signs of retreat, which is a phenomenon common to large glaciers.

A very sensitive species in Iceland, so, I will not specify the place of capture, this time. This is a juvenile. It was eating a prey, but, after a while feeling observed, it flew away with it. This is the largest of the falcon species.

I was asked if I had gotten a shot of the court house while I was in Lockhart some time back. Of course I did..;) But I wasn't that happy with it because by the time I straightened it, I lost the top of it..;( Anyway, here's some info:
The current Caldwell County Courthouse was built in 1893-1894. There is debate as to whether the design was by San Antonio architect Alfred Giles or Henri E. M. Guindon, who worked for Giles but not during the time the plans were sold to Caldwell County. The design is Second Empire-style architecture. The cornerstone was laid on August 15, 1893 and the county commissioners received the building on March 19, 1894. The walls are built of rusticated masonry and cream colored limestone and trimmed with red sandstone specified to be from Muldoon, Texas. In 1969 the building received air conditioning and had an elevator installed. Major restoration in 2000 brought the courthouse back to its historic appearance. The courthouse was rededicated in April 2000.
The city of Lockhart is named after Byrd Lockhart, an assistant surveyor of Green DeWitt and reportedly the first Anglo to set foot in Caldwell County. Lockhart was the site of a victory of the Texans over the Comanche, at the Battle of Plum Creek in 1840. Lockhart was originally called "Plum Creek" but the name was later changed to Lockhart.
The town's economic growth began with the arrival of the railroad in the late 19th century, at which time the town became a regional shipping center for local cotton. Following the arrival of the railroad, various immigrants arrived in Lockhart and opened various businesses.
Lockhart has several claims to fame. In 1999, the Texas Legislature proclaimed Lockhart the "Barbecue Capital of Texas";[5] Lockhart has four major barbecue restaurants. The Dr. Eugene Clark Library is the oldest operating public library in Texas. Lockhart was also the subject of an article by the architectural historian and critic Colin Rowe, first published in Architectural Record in 1957, and republished in the collection of his writings As I Was Saying (1996). Rowe sees Lockhart as a "curiously eloquent" example of a Victorian post-frontier American town.

A rare example of a wooden boxed-in Howe Truss bridge. The Great Northern Railway acquired the Spokane & Inland Empire Railway and had the bridge built according to a general plan (Great Northern Railway Plan No. 115-1562). The plan specified a 150' span, and three additional bridges of the same type were constructed along the line, which was a 37 mile branch line from Spring Valley, Washington, to Colfax, Washington. Previously used as an electric interurban railway by the Spokane & Inland Empire Railway, this spur line was upgraded to a steam line for freight use, hence the need for the heavy-timbered bridges. The Harpole Bridge is the only extant structure of its type in the State of Washington, and perhaps one of few remaining in the country.
Taking advantage of yesterday we had a full moon with the so-called pink moon. A group of friends took this picture. The image is made up of two photographs every time the moon is in that position at 21:41 with the blue hour still and the castle not being illuminated. The first photo is taken at 1/100 and ISO 1000. The second is specified in the EXIF data. Then we waited until it got dark for the castle to light up without moving the tripod and at 22:27 the second shot was taken, which is the entire land area including the castle. It is mounted in Photoshop and edited in Ligthroom

Some may remember my enchantment when first coming across this beautiful plant that i don't remember coming across before. I took the previous shot in my photo stream with a sony a7ii with a CZ jena trioplan with a Helicoid attached. I went back the following day and this was shot using a sony a7rii with a Pancolar vintage lens attached with an m42 adapter.. i didn't want to leave this one behind because I loved the bokeh which was different with beautiful colours and the plant still had some morning dew on it. We did this 30 mile round trip two days running because i was so enchanted with my find lol.. only about 50 more shots of this flower on my PC left to upload.....
Pink like candy.
It seems that this is still another kind of hypselodoris but not specified yet. The difference with the others is that this one has white tips instead of white bands on the rhinophores.

Huisduinen is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Den Helder, and lies about 2 km west of Den Helder.
In 2001, the village of Huisduinen had 513 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.18 km², and contained 231 residences.
The lighthouse Lange Jaap ("Long James"), also known as Kijkduin Light or Den Helder Light, is an active lighthouse near fort Kijkduin in Huisduinen, Netherlands. At a height of 182 feet (55 m) it is one of the tallest "traditional lighthouse" in the world. For almost a century, from 1878 to 1974, it was the tallest lighthouse in the Netherlands, until the construction of Maasvlakte Light.
According to The Lighthouse Directory it is the tallest non-skeletal cast iron lighthouse in the world. That may be the case if the height is as specified in that source (63.5 metres (208 ft)). However, if the height is 55.5 metres (182 ft). As stated by other sources it is the second tallest, Cikoneng Light being 190 feet (58 m).
The site is open and accessible. However, due to safety concerns the tower has been closed to the public since 1998.

He arrives, she sees him, she wants him
And her eyes do the rest
She manages to set fire
To all her moves
After that it's a classic story
Whatever the smoke
Whatever the music
She lifts up her hair, she hopes he guesses
In her eyes like a doll
He gets comfortable, he looks around
He gets his lines ready
As she moves a little closer
Suddenly their eyes meet
After that it's a normal story
The drink she accepts, and the smiles he lays out
Coming near, he sees fine shadows
In her eyes like a doll
No need to be specific
Where they're from and what they say
It's a childhood story
An ordinary story
It's simply, simply
Saturday night on Earth
It's simply, simply
Saturday night on Earth
Saturday night on Earth
They talk, they brush, they know
They'll have to go outside
They have to touch
The music is so good
After that, it's just an adventure
That takes place on the back seat of a car
He sees blue shadows
That are designed by desire
On her figurine face
No need to specify
Where they're from and what they say
It's simply, simply
Saturday night on Earth
Saturday night on Earth
No need to be more specific
This story is already over
We would do the same
If it had to be done again
It was simply, simply
A Saturday night on Earth
Saturday night on Earth
Saturday night...

The African Reserve of Sigean located on the edge of ponds and near Narbonne, is a wild natural space where we can observe, on foot and by car, a great variety of animals (mammals, reptiles and birds) and a Mediterranean flora. It’s an animal park where children and adults can discover and "approach" animals in semi-captivity.
I forgot to specify that this photo is not quite mine. I took this photo which was a photo posted on the wall of the cheetah enclosure. As they were not determined to show themselves, and yet I waited a long time to take a picture of them, so I took this picture out of spite and frustration. I only paid attention to the unsightly reflections and then I worked on it.
It was built on the site of an ancient burial ground. According to the legend, it is a common grave of the Izborsk warriors - participants of the defense of Izborsk fortress in 1657, during the Russian-Polish war.
The name of the architect Alexander Vladovsky is specified on a tablet in the eastern wall of the chapel. On the other plaque is a poorly legible text with the date of laying the building. It is assumed that the building was done in 1929, at the time when Izborsk was territorially part of Estonia.
I worked in a materials testing lab for a time after graduating from college. One of the items we regularly tested were hydrants. If I remember correctly they had to hold 250 pounds per square inch for a specified period of time and not leak or lose pressure. Normal house water pressure is 40 to 60 psi. Pretty amazing piece of work considering the design and how many lives this has saved. Shot with a Fujica ST801 and Takumar Super Multi Coated 55mm f2 lens. Film is Fomopan 100 developed in Rodinal at 1:25

Blooms for You
There’s a little park I like to go, where pretty wildflowers like to grow.
The park is simple, and quite old. That’s why they mow it last I’m told.
The flowers thus can reach quite high, as if they yearned to touch the sky.
And in this tiny park I’ll snip, the vibrant flowers before they’re clipped.
One day while collecting up my yield, I scanned across the open field.
The city mower sped along, as I happily picked and sang a song.
We shared our usual, smile and wave as she let me clip before she’d shave.
And as the next bloom caught my eye, inside the Holy Ghost drew nigh.
I knew then that the flowers in hand, must go to someone I hadn’t planned.
I felt that someone I hold dear, deserved to know the Lord is near;
That in the colours, He hoped she’d infer, a love that blossoms just for her;
And in the scents, her lungs would fill, with courage to wait and to be still.
I wondered if she’d think me mad, or think I thought that she was sad.
I wondered if she’d wonder why, someone like me would drop flowers by.
What if she thought I wanted praise? What kinds of questions would this raise?
But still, the urge within was strong: it was with her these blooms belong.
There’s a little park I like to go, where pretty wildflowers like to grow.
In this park, God bring peace to my soul as I sing and talk to Him while I stroll.
The colours reach beyond each flower, they’re given by our Higher Power.
And that one day while clipping I knew, God meant these flowers just for you.

Rolling Elegance and Style in this only remaining Model 48 Seven-Passenger Suburban known. This Big Pierce retains its original matching-numbers engine. It is one of just two known 1915 Model 48 Suburbans remaining in existence today. It is the sole known 'dome-roof' example. It is believed that it was purchased new in the Hershey, PA area by the confectioner, industrialist, and philanthropist Milton S. Hershey of Hershey Chocolate Company fame. It remained within Mr. Hershey's vehicle fleet until the early 1920s. It is painted in it's original colors, appropriate to a Chocolate king........mocha and dark brown. The car is finished in matching upholstery in wool and leather. It rides on correct 27-inch wheels and proper Goodrich Johnson rims.
Pierce-Arrows large-displacement T-head six-cylinder engines featured cylinders cast in pairs, supported by aluminum crankcases, with every component built using the finest materials. All engines were dynamometer-tested for performance before being completely disassembled, inspected, and tested again for smoothness.
The bodies were built from 1/8-inch aluminum panels cast in the company's own foundry. Pierce-Arrow Chief Engineer Herbert Dawley usually met personally with the customers, who specified the colors, interior materials, and accessories for their purchase.
Very expensive and not for the Hoi-Paloi,,,,,,,,,,

Leaving Livingston behind on their way to Laurel. Lead unit 3101 was among the first order of GP50s for the BN. They were initially requested by the Frisco, but when the BN and Frisco merged in 1980 the still building order of 10 copies was delivered in BN paint. However, they did receive the Frisco specified Pyle Gyralights. But unfortunately, by the time of this shot it had been removed.

Manzanar is the site of one of ten American concentration camps, where more than 120,000 Japanese Americans were incarcerated during World War II from March 1942 to November 1945. It is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California's Owens Valley, between the towns of Lone Pine to the south and Independence to the north, approximately 230 miles (370 km) north of Los Angeles. Manzanar means "apple orchard" in Spanish. The Manzanar National Historic Site, which preserves and interprets the legacy of Japanese American incarceration in the United States, was identified by the United States National Park Service as the best-preserved of the ten former camp sites.
Since the last of those incarcerated left in 1945, former detainees and others have worked to protect Manzanar and to establish it as a National Historic Site to ensure that the history of the site, along with the stories of those who were incarcerated there, is recorded for current and future generations. The primary focus is the Japanese American incarceration era, as specified in the legislation that created the Manzanar National Historic Site. The site also interprets the former town of Manzanar, the ranch days, the settlement by the Owens Valley Paiute, and the role that water played in shaping the history of the Owens Valley.

This was one of Earl and Daryl’s jobs. This guy wanted to make his shed into a man cave and so he asked Earl and Daryl to install a satellite dish. Instead of anchoring the dish permanently to the roof, the boys opted to anchor the dish with cinderblocks. That is a lot of weight on this old roof. In fact, you see it here just before the dish fell through the roof creating a large open hole for collecting rainwater. The owner didn’t specify that he wanted running water in his man cave, so what a nice surprise for him.
The owner took the time to protect the shed from lightening, but not from Earl and Daryl. They also built a nice porch for him on the front of the man cave... not quite in the middle or straight. Unfortunately, this man cave is now just a deteriorating shed with a hole in the roof and vines growing up the sides.

Scientific name: Eumyias thalassinus,
This species has an extremely large range, and hence does not approach the thresholds for Vulnerable under the range size criterion (Extent of Occurrence 30% decline over ten years or three generations). The population size has not been quantified, but it is not believed to approach the thresholds for Vulnerable under the population size criterion (10% in ten years or three generations, or with a specified population structure). For these reasons the species is evaluated as Least Concern.
