Remains of a specific medieval fortress, which was built into four basalt towers, which are the remains of an ancient volcano. It was a guard castle with a large tower, which stood high above the landscape with a great outlook at the delta of Elbe river, an important trade route at that time. The original wooden castle stood at least in the 11th Century, and was modified to a stone castle sometimes in the 12th Century. It was expanded in the late 14th Century, attacked in 1444 and damaged, improvized repairs have been done but in the next year another enemies burned the castle down and killed all the men defending it (they were buried under the castle in a mass grave, which is still there). The castle is mentioned as abandoned in 1515, but the buildings under the core were used until WW2. Most of the stone walls sacked down the hill, creating still visible debris fields, today the basalt towers are pretty well accessible, and it is possible to climb to the highest point and have a beautiful look around the landscape.

Anzac Day Deepwater. We layed a specific wreath in Aborignal Flag colours for all those who died in what has become known as Australia's Frontier Wars. When the British invaded this land, it was indeed a war. This war still rages today.
My father served in Korea, he was on the ship HMAS Arunta named after the Arrente people of Northern Territory. Two ships have been commissioned with this same name. The Arrernte people marched with people from that ship or people representing them in the march around 11am in Sydney live telecast.

This site-specific installation by pop artist Allen Jones has contrasting viewpoints. Soaring in the sky, the red sculpture’s sweeping tips of hair and silhouette can be appreciated when viewed from above, while from ground level, the experience is more abstract. Made from an aluminium sheet, Head in the Wind’s namesake alludes to an earlier work by Jones, created when he was at Hornsey Art College in 1959. ‘It’s remarkable to see how it’s bookending my career, but it confirms something I’ve always believed: that is within everybody there is a notion of completeness, which is unconsciously operating.’ Fun fact: Jones knew Stanley Kubrick, after the director was keen include one of his works in A Clockwork Orange.
This specific car was purchased new by Henry Ford - founder of the Ford Motor Company - and is said that Mr. Ford had it parked in his design studio for inspiration. Some say that design cues from this 212 made it into the Ford Thunderbird.

I was fortunate enough to camp on these grounds a few nights before the festival began. Every morning walking to the trickling falls, eating breakfast on a stone dam, making note of the changes forced upon the grounds from drought…
A running stream I once used for bathing (on a previous visit) was paused, parched, full of stagnant water and mosquito eggs
Mid-day heat required taking multiple dips into a spring-fed pond
Evening diversions punctuated by the Perseid Meteor shower
Threats of a wet deluge were welcome
Enough rain to soften summer heat, but barely penetrate the soil
My wish for water ~ poured upon my head before performance ~ mist accompaniment from above ~ sounds of gurgled poured and bubbling water closed the soundtrack

Found along this stretch of coast, are the remains of World War II ''Coastal Crust'' anti-boat landing obstacles, their primary role was to stop landing craft from reaching the shore and to damage them, creating choke points which would force the enemy into specific, easily defended areas.
In June 1940 the initial line of defence on the shoreline was marked by ''Dragon's Teeth'' a term sometimes used for pyramid-shaped concrete anti-tank blocks, but which in 55th Division referred to steel spikes intended to rip the bottom out of landing barges and small craft as they reach the shore. Each tooth was formed from bent and pointed steel angles or girders set in a concrete block sunk into the sand or shingle at 15 foot intervals between high and low water mark pointing seaward. Almost 12,000 spikes were laid on 55th Division's front, of which nearly 7,000 were of ''heavy type'' and contained apertures through which cable or barbed wire could be strung to provide a continuous barrier and 5,000 were of a smaller design where simple spikes and no apertures.
We shall clear it off the beaches – When it became evident that the war was going to end government attention turned to how military remains were to be systematically removed. In 1944 it had been agreed that the Ministry of Works would be responsible for the derequisitioning of military property and the removal of the 'Temporary Defence Works', which included coastal defences and training infrastructure. The normal procedure was for the landowner to receive compensation for such works until they were cleared and the land 'restored' to its pre-war state, an arrangement that continued until 1960, when all claims were extinguished. Where the effort to clear defences was not felt to be in the public interest a one-off compensation payment was made to the landowner that could be used to cover the costs of removal. There was, however, no legal requirement on the part of the landowner to actually do so and so, especially in remote or unobtrusive locations, structures were often left untouched and became private property.
In the case of seaside resorts in the south and east of England it was felt by government that it was in the national interest to expedite the process of clearance on municipal land and the War Office was prepared to meet bills for clearance directly. To that end, in November 1944 local authorities were encouraged to draw up schedules for the removal of works and submit quotes that could then be assessed and authorised by the War Office's Lands Branch. Once the military has declared defence works redundant, a two-stage process followed: an initial phase of site clearance to make seafronts safe and accessible, then full reinstatement, which saw the full removal of defences and areas returned to their pre-war condition.
The wholesale removal of fixed obstacles was a more involved undertaking, and the process was often protracted. Detailed schedules of redundant defences give some sense of the scale of work involved. At Aldeburgh this included over 16,404 feet of scaffolding, 14,763 feet of barbed wire and 4,000 anti-tank blocks, together with the removal of dragon's teeth and pillboxes: works that in total would cost an estimated £25,000 to clear. In early 1945 the costs of the removal of defences on the town's land were submitted to the Lands Branch, who in turn requested a more detailed assessment of the work. There was then a delay until the summer of 1946 while this paperwork was complied, the town clerk later explaining that the Borough Surveyor was simply overworked and that they had instructed an outside firm of surveyors to act as consultants.
By January 1947 the town clerk, his frustration with the Lands Branch evident, wrote that if the matter could be dealt with speedily the sea front could be cleared in time for Easter and that further delay would mean that the beach and promenade will be topsy turvy just at a time when our spring and summer visitors will be here. The work was put out to tender and the Lands Branch wished to award the contract to the lowest bidder, a company the council considered to have dubious merits, which caused further frustration and much alarm. In the end, a preferred bidder was persuaded to revise their initial costs and in May 1947 the contract, for £26,997 14s 6d. was finally awarded and work undertaken that summer. Matters were concluded only in December, when the contractors threatened legal action against the council for non-payment of the balance of the contract; it subsequently transpired that this was a policy on their part to receive prompt payment as in the past they had encountered delays when dealing with government agencies.
