Harrods is a department store specializing in luxury goods on Brompton Road in London 's Knightsbridge district . Outside the department store, the Harrods group also includes a bank (Harrods Bank) , a real estate company (Harrods Estate) and an airline company (Air Harrods) .

In 1835 , Charles Henry Harrod, a tea and grocery wholesaler , started a shop opposite his residence in Stepney in London's East End . Worried about a cholera epidemic in London, he moved to the then quiet Brompton Road in 1849 to take over a grocery business. His trade also grew along with the neighborhood and he included the adjacent buildings in his business.

The current owner is Qatar Holding , the investment fund of the Royal Family of Qatar . The holding company bought the department store from Mohamed Al-Fayed in 2010 for about 1.8 billion euros. [1]

La Binerie Mont-Royal is a lunch counter-style restaurant in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, specializing in traditional Quebec cuisine, including its signature baked beans.

Founded in 1938 by Léonide Lussier, the restaurant was the setting of Yves Beauchemin's novel and film Le Matou (1985), which was filmed on location. The business was purchased by new owners Jocelyne and Philippe Brunet in 2005, but largely remains unchanged. In addition to its trademark beans, the restaurant serves such traditional fare as tourtières, Pâté chinois (French for "Chinese pie"), pouding chômeur, pea soup and spruce beer.

The restaurant is located on Mount Royal Avenue, in the city's Plateau Mont-Royal borough.

-----------

After seeing the movie, it took several years before someone told me that La Binerie was a real restaurant. Then, it took some years before I learned where the restaurant was located. It took sometime before I decided to go eat there but, when I got there, the restaurant was closed for summer holidays. So, finally, yesterday, I was able to eat there for the 1st time in my life (30 years after seeing the movie). They say that patience is a virtue....

A shop in Tsukiji Outside Market "specializing in rice ball ingredients" according to their advertisement in English. Rice ball is called Onigiri, Nigirimesi or (O)musubi in Japanese. It is a ball of plain rice with salty ingredient(s) in the core. It is often wrapped in Nori, paper-like edible seaweed. It is a portable food equivalent to sandwich in the West.

Typical rice ball ingredients are Umeboshi (pickled salty plum), grilled salmon, salted Konbu (seaweed), Tarako (cod roe), Tsukudani (seafoods cooked in thick soy sauce) etc. Salty ingredients are indispensable to preserve Onigiri for hours.

This small shop in Tsukiji specialises in selling a huge variety of ingredients for the rice ball other than the above.

Onigiri is becoming popular outside of Japan. I was surprised in an Eva Air flight in Taiwan when they served an Onigiri as on-board meal.

Stuyvesant High School, commonly known as Stuy, is a New York City public high school that specializes in mathematics and science. Is is named after Peter Stuyvesant, the last Dutch governor of New Netherland before the ownership of the colony was transferred to England in 1664.

The school was established in 1904 as a manual training school for boys, hosting 155 students and 12 teachers. In 1907, it moved from its original location at 225 East 23rd Street to a building designed by C.B.J. Snyder at 345 East 15th Street, where it remained for the following 85 years. Its reputation for excellence in math and science continued to grow, and enrollment was restricted based on previous scholastic achievement starting in 1919. In the 1930s, entrance examinations were implemented, making admission to the school even more competitive.

In 1969, 14 girls were admitted to Stuyvesant and 12 enrolled at the start of September, marking the school's first co-educational year. Now, approximately 43% of students are female.

In 1972, Brooklyn Tech, Bronx Science, Stuyvesant and Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts were chosen by the New York State Legislature as specialized high schools of New York City. The act called for a uniform exam to be administered for admission to Brooklyn Tech, Bronx Science and Stuyvesant High School. The exam, named the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT), tested students in math and verbal abilities. Admission to LaGuardia High School was by audition rather than examination, in keeping with its artistic mission.

By the 1980s, the East 15th Street building was no longer a quality educational facility by modern standards. So The New York City Board of Education secured an agreement with the Battery Park City Authority for a new building, and construction began in 1989. The new ten-floor building, located near lower Manhattan

You might think this was taken from a tour boat specializing in whale watching. But you would be wrong. This was taken through the open window of my truck camper parked near the seashore.

These humpback whales were after capelin. You can see five here in this shot and two more just submerged slightly out of frame ... but that was just a few of these huge creatures that were in this area all day. It was a truly mesmerizing scene and very few besides us ... if any ... were privileged to see it!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, these whales have a special stretchy tissue called ventral groove blubber attached to their lower jaw or mandible. When they lower their jaws to extreme angles and swim very quickly while feeding on small fish and krill, a drag force on this blubber causes it to expand to encompass a volume that can be almost as big as the whale itself. The jaws ... as far as I an tell from the shots I took ... open at least ninety degrees and when they surface like they are doing here they quickly snap them shut ... while the water they have taken in pours out in a torrent. Some of the small capelin do too, of course ... hence the gulls in the area.

The two in the middle here are showing their upper jaw and their pink tongue. Their lower jaws are still under the water ... but you can actually the one on the left starting to close. So, you see why I say they open ninety degrees. The whale on the right is showing its lower jaw and if you look closely you can see the brown barnacles.

What Success means to me:

Success isn't everything on my life it is a consequence of my hard work, let me explain:

My father had a camera, it weren't that good, but weren't too bad. them I started to use it, taking pictures of the nature, (flowers, trees, insects) and post on the internet. Whem I started, I didn't had too much hability

Over the years, my photos were getting better, slowly, I was taking courses in editing photos (to give a more professional touch to them) them my pictures where getting better and better.

Then, someone invited me to enter in pitcures contest, where, with deeply effort, dedication and care, I was hired by a company.

I want to meam, that for me, the most important thing on my life, isn't success, it is hard work and dadication, give you heart to all the pictures.

Success is a consequence that can be benign or not, if you don't know how to handle it.

You can't wait the "sucess" fall from the sky, you need to search for it, if you really want, I searched for it, studied, practiced, did everything possible and impossible, look where I am now! Look how my pictures were, and look how they are now.

Success is achieved by overcoming obstacles, challenges, overcoming the insurmountable and NEVER forgot to belive on yourself, belive that can do everything you want, I belive in you!

I do not know if I expressed it correctly, if you have any doubts about what I wrote, please leave a comment..

I wrote with the highest security possible,

Thank you very much for your comprehencion.

ps.: the litlle history above, is based in my real history, but I didn't started taking pictures of the nature, I started taking pictures of my Bratz dolls, the rest is all true, except the fact "wired by a company", but maybe it can become true! why not?

ps²: Why I chose photographer for Ashley: it is my true talent, and I made Ashley's personality very close to mine. I love to take picture, it is my own lifestyle.

the little picture on Ashley's picture are old pictures that I did without use too much edition and pictures with natural background

ps³: Did you see my last pictures? aren't they better?

I'm giving my all to do amazing pictures, not only for that contest, I'm showing all my creativity, to finish this contest with the "gold key". I KNOW THAT I CAN DO IT!! :D:D:D

A cactarium or cactuario (from Latin, cactarium) is a garden dedicated to the planting of cacti. While they generally specialize in collecting cacti, they can also include other desert plants such as sabla, agaves or Crassulaceae, although this would better be termed "xeriscaping".

Cacti are succulent plants native to the American continent, typical of arid environments. They require dry conditions and therefore, in many countries, the collections are kept in greenhouses that protect from rain. Due to their low need for water, they are a sustainable landscaping option.

Cactariums also tend to host plants from other botanical families, native to the desert regions of the world.

This photograph captures the entrance of a small eatery in Bari, Italy, specializing in traditional Italian street food. The wooden double doors are painted with colorful illustrations of food items and vibrant red text. Above the doors, a sign reads "Rosticceria - Focacceria - Friggitoria," indicating the shop offers roasted, baked, and fried delicacies. The name "L'Arte Della Focaccia 2 Dirello" is prominently displayed, emphasizing its focus on the art of making focaccia. The hand-painted food illustrations and text on the doors showcase the specialties offered, such as focacce, panzerotti, rustici, arancini, and calzoni, evoking a sense of local culinary tradition.

The dishes advertised are quintessential elements of Puglian cuisine. Focaccia, a specialty in Bari, is a soft, thick bread often topped with tomatoes, olives, and a drizzle of olive oil, offering a delightful mix of crisp and fluffy textures. Panzerotti, another regional favorite, are crescent-shaped turnovers filled with ingredients like mozzarella, tomato sauce, or ham, then fried to perfection. These handheld snacks are beloved for their rich, savory filling encased in a golden crust.

The menu also features rustici and arancini. Rustici are puff pastry circles filled with béchamel sauce, mozzarella, and tomato, baked until flaky and golden. Arancini, on the other hand, are fried rice balls typically stuffed with ragù, peas, and cheese, forming a crispy exterior with a creamy, flavorful interior. Lastly, calzoni—similar to pizza but folded—are filled with various ingredients, such as ricotta, ham, or spinach, and baked or fried to seal in the flavors. These dishes reflect the region's rich culinary heritage, offering locals and visitors a taste of Bari’s street food culture.

The Cloisters is a museum in Upper Manhattan, New York City specializing in European medieval architecture, sculpture and decorative arts. Its collection grew from that of American sculptor, art dealer and collector George Grey Barnard, whose foundations were acquired by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. in 1925. Rockefeller extended the collection and in 1931 purchased land at Washington Heights and contracted the design for a new building. The museum is today part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Its architectural and artistic works divide between the Romanesque and Gothic styles. Its four cloisters -known as the Cuxa, Bonnefont, Trie and Saint-Guilhem cloisters- come from French monasteries and abbeys. Between 1934 and 1939 they were excavated and reconstructed in Washington Heights, in a large project overseen by the architect Charles Collens. They are surrounded by a series of indoor chapels and rooms grouped by period which include the Romanesque, Fuentidueña, Unicorn, Spanish and Gothic rooms. The design, layout and ambiance of the building is intended to evoke in visitors a sense of the Medieval European monastic life through its distinctive architecture. The area around the buildings contains a number of reconstructed early medieval gardens.

The Cloisters is a well-known New York City landmark and has been used as a filming location a number of times. In 1948, the experimental filmmaker Maya Deren used its ramparts as a backdrop for her experimental film Meditation on Violence. In the same year, German director William Dieterle used the Cloisters as the location for a convent school in his film Portrait of Jennie. The 1968 film Coogan's Bluff used the site for the scene of a shoot-out.

Mathieu Stern is a YouTuber that specializes in finding weird lenses to adapt to a mirrorless camera. I stumbled across an episode that showcased a lens that I have. I was inspired to rummage around in my drawer of forgotten lenses an run outside to take a few photos with this just barely useful lens adapter. According to the video this lens was used as the red lens that was HAL 9000. For this photo the lens is mounted on a Canon FD 50mm f1.4. The adapter has aperture blades that are stopped to f16. The 50mm lens is set to f1.4.

The Crab Cooker is a popular Southern California restaurant specializing in seafood that is located at 22nd Street and Newport Boulevard in Newport Beach on the Balboa Peninsula.

The restaurant is known for its Manhattan-style clam chowder, skewers of scallops, crab and lobster entrees, oysters, crab and shrimp cocktail, salmon fillet and other fresh fish.

History

The Crab Cooker restaurant was founded at 28th Street and Marina when original owner Bob Roubian was offered the opportunity to take over a local fish market in August 1951. Roubian, a carpenter by trade, had helped remodel the market three years earlier and had an interest in fishing. The original 1,700-square-foot (158 m2) restaurant was adjoined by a 9,000-square-foot (836 m2) annex. The building housing the restaurant was formerly a branch of the Bank of America, whose former logo can be seen embedded in the corner of the building. The restaurant was established in 1951 and is considered a local landmark. In 1992, a second restaurant was opened in Tustin, California.

Bob Roubian, who was born in Pasadena, served as a Seabee during the Second World War. In 1955, Roubian and Cliffie Stone wrote a rockabilly song called "The Popcorn Song", proceeds from which helped pay off the restaurant's debts. Roubian died in 2017 and the restaurants are now managed by his son-in-law.

Temporary closure

In 2019, The Crab Cooker's original location in Newport Beach was demolished after construction of an adjacent condominium complex undermined the restaurant's foundations, causing major structural damage that resulted in the business's insurers declaring the building to be "unsalvageable." The building's owners decided to demolish it and rebuild on the current site. The last day of business in the original building was September 2, 2018. Construction problems delayed rebuilding by more than a year.

In 2021, the new building opened, retaining many of the features and whimsy of the original building, including the iconic fish sign that says, "Don't look up here!".

Description

The Crab Cooker restaurant is known for its casual atmosphere. The building's exterior is painted bright red. Inside, the restaurant decoration is a pastiche of unique items including paintings by famous artists, theater chandeliers, pots and pans, a wrought-iron gate, nautical equipment and a giant shark, the restaurant is popular with locals and tourists from around the world. Food is served on paper plates.

It is common to see patrons waiting in lines in the street; these lines once elevated The Crab Cooker to national headlines when advance staff for President Richard Nixon asked Roubian to allow Nixon to be seated for dinner. Roubian informed them the president would have to wait along with rest of the people, as would any president.

In popular culture

In the television show The O.C., the restaurant dubbed the "Crab Shack" is The Crab Cooker. but, in one episode, Julie Cooper (Melinda Clarke) refers to the restaurant by its real-life name.

BACK TO THE EDO JIDAI! / WARP STATION EDO / ワープステーション江戸

You will be time-warped from the present back into the Edo period and experience life as it was then through a variety of multimedia presentations.

All Japanese may feel the most Edo-like atmosphere in the downtown section.

Accommodations, restaurants, and boats on a canal, everything is a picturesque view. I was excited too. An alley among houses also has congenial atmosphere.

I imagined old Japanese walking through the alley and felt like I was a time traveler.

Monument Valley (Navajo: Tsé Biiʼ Ndzisgaii, pronounced [tsʰépìːʔ ǹtsɪ̀skɑ̀ìː], meaning "valley of the rocks") is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of sandstone buttes, with the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor. The most famous butte formations are located in northeastern Arizona along the Utah–Arizona state line. The valley is considered sacred by the Navajo Nation, the Native American people within whose reservation it lies.

Monument Valley has been featured in many forms of media since the 1930s. Famed director John Ford used the location for a number of his Westerns. Film critic Keith Phipps wrote that "its five square miles [13 km2] have defined what decades of moviegoers think of when they imagine the American West".

History

Before human existence, the Park was once a lowland basin. For hundreds of millions of years, materials that eroded from the early Rock Mountains deposited layer upon layer of sediment which cemented a slow and gentle uplift, generated by ceaseless pressure from below the surface, elevating these horizontal strata quite uniformly one to three miles above sea level. What was once a basin became a plateau.

Natural forces of wind and water that eroded the land spent the last 50 million years cutting into and peeling away at the surface of the plateau. The simple wearing down of altering layers of soft and hard rock slowly revealed the natural wonders of Monument Valley today.

From the visitor center, you see the world-famous panorama of the Mitten Buttes and Merrick Butte. You can also purchase guided tours from Navajo tour operators, who take you down into the valley in Jeeps for a narrated cruise through these mythical formations. Places such as Ear of the Wind and other landmarks can only be accessed via guided tours. During the summer months, the visitor center also features Haskenneini Restaurant, which specializes in both native Navajo and American cuisines, and a film/snack/souvenir shop. There are year-round restroom facilities. One mile before the center, numerous Navajo vendors sell arts, crafts, native food, and souvenirs at roadside stands.

I am a longtime Communications Professional specializing in photography and videography.

Located in the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia) region, I shoot real estate, events, fashion, events, news and sports. I have produced many TV commercials and corporate videos, and have a rather long credit list of local (to Southern Maryland) TV shows I have developed, hosted, shot, directed, edited and produced.

I'm interested in hearing from and interacting with serious hobby photographers and professional photogs and videographers, as well as hearing from anyone who wishes to discuss a photo or video project.

Thanks!

Tim

A ground-based unit specializing in law enforcement, used only in the most dire of civil unrest.

While considered a relic these days, the Riot Guard is still a staple of the Monarchy's iron-clad rule. This particular unit, designated Ophelia-Prime, has the most decorated and extensive career record, and was chosen by The Monarch to serve as Her Personal Royal Bodyguard.

The Riot Guard is a technical marvel, requiring no maintenance during their entire service history. The inventor behind their creation disappeared long ago, and no record exists of their design or his fate. However, citizens have been known to whisper every rumor between mad science gone wrong and corporate ninja assassinations.

A Portland Oregon based manufacturer who specializes in equipment manufacturing, now mainly focusing on specialty trailers and tag/drop axles for trucks, many of which are on garbage trucks all over the road today, tried their hand in automated front load equipment. Named "The Can-Man", to the best of my knowledge it was marketed from roughly 1997 to 2006 as those are the dates of the name being trademarked and then the cancellation of said trademark.

Seen here in March of 1996 paired to an already 9 year old Peterbilt 310 Amrep Octo front loader collecting a 40 gallon RMI cart.

I know where one of these is today in perfect condition, however it is not used. It is where I learned of these and what brought me to dig through the internet to find this photo, which turned out to be on their Facebook.. go figure. Visit their page if you're interested in what they do today.

Sentient Combat Automaton specializing in long range sniping and marksmanship. Aquila Omen rarely enters the battlefield, instead striking from a safe distance using its Sniper Arm. It's rifle uses special Phase-Tech bullets that can phase through all obstacles between Omen and its target. The scope on Omen's arm can switch between IR and X-ray modes, making it nearly impossible to hid from Omen's piercing shots. Omen is not suited for close combat, instead relying on support from other Vanguard automatons such is Bolide to protect it. Omen is particular calm in its demeanor. It is often seen staring at trees, birds, and flowers with an almost human-like sense of wonder.

Build notes;

Another quick build. This one only took a few hours to put together. I tried scaling down my standard Vanguard frame for Omen's torso and legs, and I am really happy with the result. I feel this one has a bit more personality than some of the others. Since Omen is so small, it poses really well. Also, the clip on the sniper rifle can be removed. And... teal parts! yay! I finally got a chance to use this rare color! What fun. Now, time to get back to those bonkle builds I've been putting off.

Kinder Morgan is an American company headquartered in downtown Houston, Texas.[1] It is the largest energy infrastructure company in North America specializing in owning and controlling oil and gas pipelines and terminals. Kinder Morgan owns an interest in or operates approximately 84,000 miles of pipelines and owns about 180 terminals. Their pipelines transport natural gas, refined petroleum products, crude oil, carbon dioxide and more. They also store or handle a variety of products and materials at their terminals such as gasoline, jet fuel, ethanol, coal, petroleum coke and steel. The company has approximately 69,000 miles of natural gas pipelines and moves about 38 percent of the natural gas consumed in the United States. Kinder Morgan is also the largest independent terminal operator and the largest independent transporter of petroleum products in North America. The company's CO2 division provides carbon dioxide (CO2) for enhanced oil recovery projects in North America. The company's headquarters is located in Houston, Texas. Stanley Park is a 405-hectare (1,001-acre) public park that borders the downtown of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada and is almost entirely surrounded by waters of Vancouver Harbour and English Bay. The park has a long history and was one of the first areas to be explored in the city. The land was originally used by indigenous peoples for thousands of years before British Columbia was colonized by the British during the 1858 Fraser Canyon Gold Rush. For many years after colonization, the future park with its abundant resources would also be home to non-aboriginal settlers. The land was later turned into Vancouver's first park when the city incorporated in 1886. It was named after Lord Stanley, 16th Earl of Derby, a British politician who had recently been appointed governor general. Unlike other large urban parks, Stanley Park is not the creation of a landscape architect, but rather the evolution of a forest and urban space over many years. Most of the man-made structures we see today were built between 1911 and 1937 under the influence of then superintendent W.S. Rawlings. Additional attractions, such as a polar bear exhibit, aquarium, and miniature train, were added in the post-war period. Much of the park remains as densely forested as it was in the late 1800s, with about a half million trees, some of which stand as tall as 76 meters (249 ft) and are up to hundreds of years old. Thousands of trees were lost (and many replanted) after three major windstorms that took place in the past 100 years, the last in 2006. Significant effort was put into constructing the near-century-old Vancouver Seawall, which can draw thousands of residents and visitors to the park every day. The park also features forest trails, beaches, lakes, children's play areas, and the Vancouver Aquarium, among many other attractions.

On June 18, 2014 Stanley Park was named "top park in the entire world" by TripAdvisor.

Vancouver, officially the City of Vancouver, is a coastal seaport city on the mainland of British Columbia, Canada, and the most populous city in the province. The 2011 census recorded 603,502 people in the city, making it the eighth largest Canadian municipality. The Greater Vancouver area of around 2.4 million inhabitants is the third most populous metropolitan area in the country. Vancouver is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in Canada; 52% of its residents have a first language other than English. Vancouver is classed as a Beta global city. The City of Vancouver encompasses a land area of about 114 square km, giving it a population density of about 5,249 people per square km (13,590 per square mi). Vancouver is the most densely populated Canadian municipality with over 250,000 residents, and the fourth most densely populated such city in North America behind New York City, San Francisco, and Mexico City. The original settlement, named Gastown, grew up on clearcuts on the west edge of the Hastings Mill logging sawmill's property, where a makeshift tavern had been set up on a plank between two stumps and the proprietor, Gassy Jack, persuaded the curious mill-workers to build him a tavern, on 1 July 1867. From that first enterprise, other stores and some hotels quickly appeared along the waterfront to the west. Gastown became formally laid out as a registered townsite dubbed Granville, B.I. ("B.I" standing for "Burrard Inlet"). As part of the land and political deal whereby the area of the townsite was made the railhead of the CPR, it was renamed "Vancouver" and incorporated shortly thereafter as a city, in 1886. By 1887, the transcontinental railway was extended to the city to take advantage of its large natural seaport, which soon became a vital link in a trade route between the Orient, Eastern Canada, and Europe. As of 2014, Port Metro Vancouver is the third largest port by tonnage in the Americas (displacing New York), 27th in the world, the busiest and largest in Canada, and the most diversified port in North America. While forestry remains its largest industry, Vancouver is well known as an urban centre surrounded by nature, making tourism its second-largest industry. Major film production studios in Vancouver and Burnaby have turned Greater Vancouver and nearby areas into one of the largest film production centres in North America, earning it the film industry nickname, Hollywood North.
