Nearly 2000 people participated in the "No Kings" event in Vero Beach, Florida on June 14th, 2025. Resist! The phrase and flag originated from The Bitter Southerner after the neo-Nazi event in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017. The confrontation led to the following conclusion: "White faces have to look straight into the eyes of other white faces and say: I will not abide your hatred."
While initially a response to white supremacy, the flag now symbolizes opposition to hatred in all forms, including racism, homophobia, misogyny, and ableism. It represents peace and unity, creating a welcoming and safe space for all.

A couple of hundred senior citizens showed up in Vero Beach, Florida on August 16, 2025 to participate in the "Fight the Trump Takeover" event, a nationwide mobilization effort that comes on the heels of a showdown in Texas over electoral maps. They gathered in temperatures that exceeded 90°F (32° C) to speak up and be heard. If they can brave the hot Florida sun in August then you can speak up too. If you're not speaking up in your community then you are allowing this to happen. This event was also attended by members of the Vets Against Trump organization.1232
