Here's something brand spanking new. From offcuts, I made MDF Poodles to be mounted on mailboxes (or the front of your Cadillac...or whatever). Thus far, I've got a Standard Poodle design and a gaiting Toy Poodle design--both designs in white, black and (as you would expect) PINK! We leave for PCA on Friday! Look out!

The brand-spanking new Salesforce Tower in all its glory lording it over the San Francisco skyline.
I had been wondering why there are no super skyscrapers in SF prior to Salesforce Tower (itis a little over 1000 ft - compared with TransAmerica Pyramid which is about 200 ft shorter, and New YorkCity’s new WTC which is almost 1800 ft tall). Turns out that SF had been resisting building skyscrapers partly to preserve its local culture. Now with the sprawling Salesforce Tower - and more new modern buildings to come, activitists contend that these office structures are drawing thousands of new residents with high paying jobs, pushing out lower income families who’ve lived in the city for generations. I am afraid that a balance between progress and sustainability would almost be an insurmountable task to undertake.

If you like to be chained up & beaten by a leather clad dominatrix, or even just enjoy a good spanking - you could be forgiven for feeling a frisson of excitement at the mention of Belt of Venus - after all Venus is the goddess of love.
Unfortunately I discovered this week that Belt of Venus is a term for something much more humdrum - the pink arch seen above the blue band of the Earth's shadow as witnessed here behind Coit tower.
Had to do this long panorama of evening light on the buildings on Nob hill - didn't feel I could cut out Coit tower or the Art Deco buildings on Fisherman's wharf?
Wanted to wait for a blue hour shot but was getting that look of impatience from my wife that says it's dinner time.
