A couple of Waterbury Haz Mat team members carry buckets of absorbent into Wolcott High School after approximately. 1 gallon of Nitric Acid was spilled in the chemistry lab. Chemistry Teacher Dr. Peter Carleton was preparing for an opening day of school demonstration when the mishap occurred forcing the school to be evacuated around 3:30 on Tuesday. The first day of school is Thursday for Wolcott students.

The latest spacesuit for the moon exploration from 2024 was made brick by brick, featuring the realistic look based on the real Artemis spacesuit, functional joints, detailed portable life support system (backpack), rear entry hatch, and two minifigs representing the "first woman" and "next man" since the Apollo Program in '60s and early '70s.
The CO2 scrubber, O2 tanks, and other components in the backpack are also made with LEGO bricks.

This is my latest MOC lego idea, brickheadz astronaut"z"!
The iconic helmet of the SpaceX launch and entry suit was recreated w lego.
Please support this project on the lego website to achieve 10000 votes within 1.5 years for a chance to become a real lego set!
The set includes many spare parts to make it diversified and inclusive.

iss065e033981 (May 12, 2021) --- Roscosmos cosmonaut and Expedition 65 Flight Engineer Oleg Novitskiy is pictured inside the Pirs docking compartment working on Russian spacewalking tools and Orlan spacesuits.
A7LB : This spacesuit model was used during Apollo Missions 15, 16 & 17. It's presented here in its intravehicular configuration which is the way it was worn by the astronauts inside the capsule Apollo during take-off and return to Earth, according to the Cosmodome.

PRESSURIZED GLOVES : Custom-built, they were moulded for the hands of astronaut William ''Bill'' Anders (Apollo 8, replacement crew for Apollo 11).

This genuine A7LB spacesuit is currently on display at the Cosmodôme (Camp Spatial Canada - Laval, Quebec, Canada).

Certains attaquent l'année scolaire avec un nouveau cartable, d'autres rentrent au travail avec quelques changements : moi c'est avec un nouveau scaphandre que septembre commence ! Le scaphandre EMU est utilisé pour les sorties extra-véhiculaires, et même si les gants sont faits sur mesure, et les bras et les jambes sont ajustables à volonté, le torse lui est en métal rigide et existe en seulement trois tailles : M, L et XL. Ma taille a toujours été L, mais c'est une bonne idée de tester des tailles alternatives, pour être capable de sortir même en cas d'indisponibilité de sa taille préférée. D'où cette séance d'essayage du XL (parce que le M est fait pour les petits gabarits... impossible pour moi de rentrer dedans !). Comme c'est la NASA, une attention extrême est portée aux moindres détails : pas question de laisser quoi que ce soit au hasard... Tous les réglages sont notés attentivement, et j'utiliserai ensuite cette taille pour l'entraînement en piscine afin de m'habituer aux différences. Fun fact : 6hrs dans un scaphandre avec de nombreuses parties métalliques, c'est douloureux ! Chacun installe des protections individuelles sur ses épaules, ses hanches, ou ses mains. Aucun astronaute n'a les mêmes.
Trying out a spacesuit. The gloves are made to measure and the legs and arms can be adjusted at will, but the torso is rigid and only comes in three sizes: M, L, and XL. I have been using an L, but it is a good idea to check that other sizes fit, just in case we need to do an emergency spacewalk. Here I tried out the XL (the M is way too small). Nothing is left to chance at space agencies! All the adjustments needed are noted by NASA people in detail and I will spend hours training in the Neutral Buoyancy Facility to get used to the setup. Working in a part-metal spacesuit is painful! Each astronaut adds protection to alleviate the pain, on the shoulders, hips, or legs. Although the suits come in three sizes, each astronaut adapts to their needs.

The base plates feature: Earth and moon; Crew Dragon by SpaceX; and Mars, Phobos, and Deimos (Martian moons).

Où trouver le vide le plus total sur terre, pour se préparer aux sorties en scaphandre ? Dans une chambre à vide bien sûr ! Après les préparatifs et les précautions nécessaires, la porte est refermée sur moi (version coffre-fort géant) et l'air est pompé hors de l'enceinte blindée (elle doit résister a la différence de pression). Il ne reste alors d'air et d'oxygène que dans mon scaphandre, comme dans l'espace ! Cet entraînement permet de se familiariser avec le matériel "de classe I" (le vrai matériel spatial), et de tester tous les systèmes en conditions réelles. Merci Aki et Megan de m'avoir aidé à enfiler le scaphandre... est-ce qu'il n'aurait pas rapetissé un peu depuis Proxima ?! ;)
After trying on the spacesuits, a next step is vacuum chamber testing to ensure there are no leaks. This kind of test is not without danger, as the air is pumped out of the chamber behind us and if the spacesuit were to fail... well reading about rapid depressurisation is not fun. It happened to a NASA engineer Jim Leblanc in 1965 and one of the last things he remembers is the saliva in his mouth boiling on his tongue 😲. Thankfully this is extremely rare and Jim survived without permanent damage. A salute to all the ground teams that prepare, train and make sure all spacewalks happen smoothly, thanks to the meticulous planning, engineering and training. Ready for the real thing!

October is a month full of spacewalks. NASA astronauts will perform 3 extravehicular activities or EVAs to maintain the International Space Station. ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli will help his crewmates get in their spacesuits and be there to help them back inside when they are finished.
