Florida Trip Oct 2016, visiting NASA, Universal Islands of Adventure, Sebastian Inlet

I heard the sonic boom and rushed outside to take this shot of the contrail the space shuttle Atlantis left in its wake on the way to Edwards Air Force Base. (See also here for magnified view.)

NASA Shuttle Bus- April 30th, 2014- Wing Section.

We live right outside of NASA here in Houston, They retired the 747 used to ferry the Space Shuttles after their flights. They retired the Jumbo Bus and hauled it in pieces to its final resting spot at the Space Museum on the NASA Grounds. They had to move all the pieces at night and it came right by my neighborhood last night! What an event They had everything shut down! It as quite a sight. It was stopped here for 30 minutes while utility companies moved overhead wires at an upcoming intersection, making for a great photo-op!

The arc of windows at the roof of the hangar gives the impression of watching the sun rise over the curvature of the Earth. Clever positioning.

After a late night staying up watching NASA TV, we headed down to Canova Beach just before the 2:28 AM launch.

Unfortunately, due to a low overcast, the STS-123 launch was only visible for a scant few (but spectacular) seconds.

Still, an amazing experience.
