Big Bear Mountain, oil on canvas, 24x36 inches Jessica Siemens 2013

This is an idea made together with my daughter. We wanted to do a spacepainting with photos. It is made up of a Little more that 200 photos put ontop of eachother. The result is a bit out of space =)

This was a final project in my oil painting class. We were given pretty much free reign as to the subject as long as it wasn't based on fantasy, science fiction, etc. I was allowed to paint Jupiter and its closest moon Io as these are actual objects in the solar system. The planet Jupiter was based on several photographs that were made by the space probe Galileo as were the colours of Io being covered in ejected and molten sulfur. The mountain peaks are conceptual and based on volcanic mountain ranges here on earth as was the crater. I realized that the crater was being placed in the center but with the scale of Jupiter and the mountain peaks, I felt that I could get away with this as it did not necessarily draw your attention directly to it.

My representation of Van Gogh's "Starry Night". Yes, many others have done it, but this one is done with spraypaint! For more of my art, check out my website: www.spacedoutstudios.com

Today is my birthday and my boyfriend decided to teach me how to do space paintings. This is my first attempt. When held next to one of his paintings mine looks very pathetic.

REAR PART WAS PURELY SPACEPAINTING TECHNICS

#MobileArtistry is creative edits, beautiful images, unique perspectives, stellar shots, and happy accidents. IE, stuff you won't find on the pop page.

Through this ongoing project we hope to expose people to art and artists they may not normally get to see, learn about one another's process, and encourage each other to push the limits of creativity.

Tonight's submission is from Monica Turner, aka @moni1974, let's hear about Monica's process.

Thanks for everything, Will!! I feel flattered and shy at the same time! Anyway, here's my process: I like to take all the images myself...so driving back from San Antonio, I was driving down a hilly street and then I saw how the street looked and thought it would be a good image to use. Then a couple of weeks earlier I had taken a few pics of The Menil Collection museum in Houston and I had taken pics of what I like to call a "Great Big Red Jax"! Anyway I was thinking I could randomly use the image in my portraits and just random other stuff. So I open up the street image in Snapseed app & tune the image and brighten it some. Put a lil ambiance.

I had wanted to use an image of a hand throwing the "Great Big Red Jax" up in the air and I just instantly thought that throwing them into the street was great to use. So decided to take a hand shot in motion and used Juxtaposer app to apply the hand shot into the street and the "Great Big Red Jax" was already a stamp in my Juxtaposer, so played around with the positions of them from the hand to the street. Saved the image.

I then played around a lil in Scratchcam app to give it some texture. Saved image. Then opened up in Photowizard app to mask around the hand to give the hand some blur, just a bit. Saved image.

And last I've been playing around with the SpacePaint app and added the bokeh, the stardust particles, squiggly light lines and just adjusted the intensities on each one. And last again back to Scratchcam app. Added the last texture. Done. ☺

<<< Frontier Friends [part of my Social Space murals project] - mural painted at Amural Festival, Brasov 2016

'Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in this Universe or we are not, both are equally terryfing.' - Arthur C. Clarke

Frontier Friends mural is a follow-up of the recent major discoveries:

- Hubble's newest & deepest image of our Universe reveals that it contains at least 10 times more galaxies than previously thought (survey taken within the Frontier Fields program);

- a planet was found in the habitable zone around the nearest star to our Solar System.

Suddenly, the Universe looks a lot more crowded.

Social space spreads out far beyond our own digital borders, into the vastness of the Universe. It's just a matter of time for us to find all the hidden friend requests within the galactic neighborhood.

Which one should we accept?
