I was driving on Roosevelt and had to turn around and pull over. This is a once in a lifetime view! There were other cars pulling over for the same reason, did I see any of you?

Opening Day 2008

After Carlos Quentin's walk-off home run in the 9th inning, the Chicago White Sox defeated the Los Angeles Angels by a score of 3-2.

Although Jose Contreras pitched a marvelous game, the winning pitcher was Scott Linebrink who worked a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 9th inning.

The attendance was 36,195.

The Red Sox enjoy their home-opening triumph over the foul Yankees.

Even Wally gets into the act.

Not a Yankee in sight.

(Though, in an oft-commented-on move, Joe Torre required all his players to sit in the dugout and watch the pre-game and ring ceremonies. It was supposed to be a sign of respect, and also to rekindle the Yankees' desire to win a ring of their own. Too bad it didn't work.)

We stayed for the whole game-and it was a very cold night. Since it was a ESPN game it was a late start and a late but worthwhile ending. I didn't take my camera out at the end of the game--too cold and we had a walk back to the hotel. The final score 8-5 Sox!

So good, so good, so good!

A Fenway tradition

These guys had a great time at the game. They mugged for the camera after they noticed me taking shots of them during Sweet Caroline.

I've always enjoyed looking at the various ways the grass is cut at different ball parks.
