Today's another day with scorching hot temperatures in Mid-September!! So let me offer some welcome refreshment to all of us who are suffering from the heat :)
Jokulsarlon glacier bay with its glacial ice floes glowing in the light of the rising sun.
Vestrahorn, on the Stokksnes peninsula in Southeast Iceland, is one of the country's most breathtaking mountains. With peaks reaching up to 454 meters, steep cliffs rising from the sides of a stunning lagoon and black sand beach, promises to blow away anyone with an appreciation of stark natural beauty.
The shore features stunning lava dunes, that are constantly being shaped by the natural forces of the water and wind.

Tri-Rail GP49H-3 812 brings up the markers of a deadhead move through Metrorail Transfer Station after running P627 to Miami Airport. I believe the 812 is one of four active GP49H-3s on Tri-Rail's roster (out of six they roster).
After Snowmageddon 2018 struck the southeastern coast of Georgia a few days ago, there are areas where the white stuff has hung on.
Georgia Central train L783 blasts a tiny snow drift made by me and a friend just a few minutes before. This was the first shot of the train but the next few we got had very little or no snow.
I am still amazed at the beauty and variety in the Aurora display on October 10th. I have driven to dark sky parks, travelled to Alaska, and not had any success. This night I wandered a few miles from my house and got to witness the most beautiful show.

(7/31/16) loved having DD here cause she loved to drive ~grin~...... and the benefits of a traffic tie-up are that one gets a great picture of the colorful gas tank that has been a part of the southeast expressway's commuters' ride for decades.

The Plain of Jars is a megalithic archaeological landscape in Laos. It consists of thousands of stone jars scattered around the upland valleys and the lower foothills of the central plain of the Xiangkhoang Plateau. The jars are arranged in clusters ranging in number from one to several hundred.
The Plain of Jars is dated to the Iron Age (500 BCE to 500 CE) and is one of the most important prehistoric sites in Southeast Asia and was most likely used as burial site.
