The Legion of Honor was the gift of Alma de Bretteville Spreckels, wife of the sugar magnate and thoroughbred racehorse owner/breeder Adolph B. Spreckels.

My custom designed lens suffered from a huge veiling flare problem. It was so severe that it was visible even when there were no light sources in front of the lens. I traced the problem to the 4 areas illuminated in the picture above.

The people I hired to handle this part just didn't pay enough attention to detail. I asked for edge blackening, but that was not done. I was also a bit concerned about the thick cylindrical area on the inside of stop, but I assumed that they knew what they were doing. In engineering, it is often impractical to test and iterate on prototypes until every problem is eliminated. The initial design often needs to be over designed in the easy areas to limit the number of things that can go wrong later. This was clearly not applied here.

The source of Hanging Lake lies just above, pouring directly from the rocks. This particular formation contains an abundance of limestone, making it very porous. Groundwater seeps through the stone until it finds an exit through the path of least resistance. This has the effect of both filtering impurities from the water as well as infusing it with minerals. It is these minerals that give the lake below its turquoise blue color.

Hubelj is a karstic source area above the town of Ajdovščina. Only rarely from the whole slope water is rushing out. This scene was taken after a strong rain.

Bought a new pack. There's three rows of PALS webbing inside the main compartment, so now I just need a MOLLE bag for three lenses!.

The publication SOURCE is a collection of interviews of people and groups who are actively challenging the political status-quo regarding the status of marginalized people and other difficult political issues, and who have visions of proactive tactics on how to address them.

The second issue of SOURCE that was published in US in November 2018 focused on topic of migration. Migration though was understood in more symbolic way as a process of transition, which is fundamental to so much of contemporary life. People migrate between identities, countries, languages, economic realities, genders, political beliefs, contexts.

Anonymous Source, Mad Mariner's test boat, is starting to look like a West Marine exploded all over it. Here we have Cable Cuffs, an Anchor Reel, QuickLine's flat rope, a fender hanger, and some floating dock lines. All are baking in the sun and freezing in the cold to see how they hold up.

Scott Air Force Base (IATA: BLV, ICAO: KBLV, FAA LID: BLV) is a United States Air Force base in St. Clair County, Illinois, near Belleville and O'Fallon, 17 miles east-southeast of downtown St. Louis. Scott Field was one of thirty-two Air Service training camps established after the United States entered World War I in April 1917. It is headquarters of Air Mobility Command (AMC), and is also the headquarters of the U.S. Transportation Command, a Unified Combatant Command that coordinates transportation across all the services.

The base is operated by the 375th Air Mobility Wing (375 AMW) and is also home to the Air Force Reserve Command's 932d Airlift Wing (932 AW) and the Illinois Air National Guard's 126th Air Refueling Wing (126 ARW), the latter two units being operationally gained by AMC.

The base currently employs 13,000 people, 5,100 civilians with 5,500 active-duty Air Force, and an additional 2,400 Air National Guard and Reserve personnel. It was announced in June 2014 that two new cybersecurity squadrons will be added to the three currently on base.

Its airfield is also used by civilian aircraft, with civilian operations at the base referring to the facility as MidAmerica St. Louis Airport. MidAmerica has operated as a Joint Use Airport since beginning operations in November 1997. Allegiant Air, the only commercial airline with scheduled flights at the airport, pulled out of the airport on January 3, 2009, but now has multiple nonstop destinations.
