Anecdote
QUAND LA LOUE PREND LE GOÛT DE L'ABSINTHE
Août 1901, Pontarlier, l'usine Pernot a pris feu !
The River Dane flows south through the ancient valleys of the Peak Districts Axe Edge Moorlands - towards Three shires Head... Cheshire/ Derbyshire? Staffordshire borders and on across Cheshire to eventually join the Mersey. A long abandoned colliery chimney stands in the mists, sentinel above the upper reaches of the Dane valley.
One source says the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains range is about 1,000 km (620 mi) in length. Its highest point is 7,090 m (23,260 ft) located 100 km (62 mi) to the northwest of Lhasa. The range is parallel to the Himalayas in the Transhimalayas, and north of the Brahmaputra River. [3] Another source says the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains extend 460 miles (740 km) from Nyêmo County in the west to Ranwu County (the southwestern part of Baxoi County) in the east.
Its highest peak is Mount Nyenchen Tanglha (Nyainqêntanglha Feng) at 7,162 metres (23,497 ft).[4]
The southern side of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains is precipitous, and falls by around 2,000 metres (6,600 ft), while the northern side is fairly level and descends about 1,000 metres (3,300 ft). Most of the mountains are below 6,500 metres (21,300 ft).[5] They contain 7080 glaciers covering an area of 10,700 square kilometres (4,100 sq mi).[4]
The Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains have an average latitude of 30°30'N and a longitude between 90°E and 97°E. Together with the Gangdise Shan located further west, it forms the Transhimalaya [a] which runs parallel to the Himalayas north of the Yarlung Tsangpo River.
The Drukla Chu river rises in the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, where it is called the Song Chu river, and joins the Gyamda Chu river. The combined rivers run about 100 kilometres (62 mi) southeast to the Yarlung Tsangpo river.
The Lištica River – the second coldest river in Europe – after the Neretva, these days is just shyly making its way through the sand without much noise, slowly flowing through Široki Brijeg to slip through the sand of Mostarsko Blato, and finally through a tunnel at the bottom of Blato to plunge into the Neretva. This is a photo from the source itself at the Vrelo Borak site, which consists of several springs and has a constant source temperature of 8 °C

Both my wife and I have been having running noses since last week. When we walked across this canyon, we figured out why.
I actually have three different light sources in this picture, the remaining light of the sunset, the stars and the moonlight. It makes for a pleasant light where you can see details like the bottom of the lake even though it is late at night.
Taken in the Glaskogen nature reservation area at the lake Stora Gla.
Thank you for visiting!
This sunset photo of was taken on our first day of a 7 day trip to this remote wilderness area. We had a two day weather delay before we could helicopter into the range so the anticipation was high when we were finally able to fly in. The beauty of the area did not disappoint. The meadows on this slope were bursting with wildflowers and you couldn't walk more than a few feet without finding yourself knee-deep in wildflowers. This little scene is probably my favorite of the trip; a mountain stream, gorgeous wildflowers, snow covered peaks lit by the setting sun with a glacier that is feeding one of the largest lakes in the range. You can't ask for much more than that!
Thank you for viewing and your comments.
The ongoing drought in South Africa reminded us of how important water is to all living things. It truly is - and will forever be - the source of all life.
Fortunately Zimanga still has enough water for the animals due to a huge lake alongside the reserve. It even distributes water to villages and other game reserves. A big thumbs up for them!
The night was nearly over in the Umgodi overnight hide and the sun wasn't even up yet when this group of wildebeest came in for a drink. I really love the wide-angle effect, portraying them beautifully against the blue morning sky.

The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in Arizona, United States. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,093 feet or 1,857 meters).
The canyon and adjacent rim are contained within Grand Canyon National Park, the Kaibab National Forest, Grand Canyon–Parashant National Monument, the Hualapai Indian Reservation, the Havasupai Indian Reservation and the Navajo Nation. The surrounding area is contained within the Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of the preservation of the Grand Canyon area and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.
Nearly two billion years of Earth's geological history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. While some aspects about the history of incision of the canyon are debated by geologists, several recent studies support the hypothesis that the Colorado River established its course through the area about 5 to 6 million years ago. Since that time, the Colorado River has driven the down-cutting of the tributaries and retreat of the cliffs, simultaneously deepening and widening the canyon.
For thousands of years, the area has been continuously inhabited by Native Americans, who built settlements within the canyon and its many caves. The Pueblo people considered the Grand Canyon a holy site, and made pilgrimages to it. The first European known to have viewed the Grand Canyon was García López de Cárdenas from Spain, who arrived in 1540.

Entirely within the state of Arizona, the park encompasses 278 miles (447 km) of the Colorado River and adjacent uplands. Located on the ancestral homelands of 11 present day Tribal Communities, Grand Canyon is one of the most spectacular examples of erosion anywhere in the world—a mile deep canyon unmatched in the incomparable vistas it offers visitors from both north and south rims.

"Beloved sweet heart bastard"
I say to myself, the painful and lonely nights made me so bitter
feeble and cold.
My heart,
cold like the silver platter on the side next to my grand cobwebbed bed.
The walls become yellow like my wedding dress I have worn for many years.
No male body to keep me warm at night,
still a virgin...

What does it say to you?
Thanks for looking.
