The last of my foggy day photos. I liked this one the most. I love the calmness that aloneness can bring to an image. (I’ve been so busy and just working on life…I’ll be coming out of my aloneness status soon and paying you each a visit!!) :-)
This is the narrow entry to the harbour in Bauline. Not sure I’d want to be entering or exiting here today. Even standing safely on shore I experienced a few mouthfuls of salt water. I love the ocean…though not tasting it. I love it when she is utterly calm or uncontrollably angry. Whatever the day her beauty is undeniable.
The black church of Budir is a very photogenic place whatever the weather. The last time I visited in 2019 the clouds were very low and it was raining but the photography was still an amazing experience due to the mood and atmosphere.
This time around we were undecided about what time of day to go due to having other places on our itinerary but after much discussion the idea was 'we might just catch a sunset'
Well the sunset was like no other I have ever witnessed. The clouds were a swirling mass shaped like a funnel above the church and then as the sun began to drop the intensity of the colours in them started to build. It was an unbelievable experience watching the sky go from bright orange to red then pink over a 30 minute period and i hope some of my photos do the scene justice.
An unforgettable evening of photography :)
The wild and beautiful Vestrahorn mountain on the Stokksnes peninsula, also nicknamed 'Batman Mountain' with dramatic spiky peaks that reach 454 metres high into the sky.
At its base is a glorious black sand beach filled with undulating sand dunes and coastal vegetation that provides a stark contrast to the mountain. As the waves roll in, you can even capture a reflection of Vestrahorn as the water stays atop the sand for a few seconds, before drawing back out to the sea and seeping into the sand below.
You can just about make out the distinctive outline of batman Mountain on the far right-hand side.
Thought I’d share some of my 52 frame images. I used this one for blur the action. I had a million ideas for the topic but ultimately my decision was determined by what time allowed. I couldn't escape during the day so at 8:30 one evening I loaded my kids into the car, bribed them with hot chocolate, and they sat and watched me wander out onto the wharf to try a few long exposures. I got about 4 images I liked but in the spirit of the topic, blur the action, I thought this worked best. The long exposure smoothes/blurs the moving ocean and all looks so calm. If only it lasted but being tucked between rock and ocean isn't always the most peaceful place to be.
The evening light is getting shorter and shorter so went out for some butterflies, spiders and other insect
Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes in Death Valley National Park. I was fortunate to be at the dunes right after some very windy weather which cleared away all the footprints and made some interesting patterns in the sand.
Photo taken at the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes near Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Park (California, USA).
I found me an empty home tucked away in the woods. Lots of greenery, overgrowth, and trees surrounded it but you could see how much it was once loved and how pretty it still stands. Next to this window stood a big apple tree. No doubt, it was lovingly planted there at some point. Now the apples lay on the ground and a few on the windowsills. No one is around to collect them and no one relishes in watching them grow. It’s a sad scene yet somehow quite beautiful at the same time.
I’m excited to be part of fence Friday!! It’s been awhile. It was always one of my faves….but nothing quite beats window Wednesday for me.
This photo was taken on a farm up the street that I pass on my way to work. Love the mood those wet foggy days bring.
Crumbling walls, peeling paint, and overgrown foliage creates an enchanting yet hauntingly beautiful scene. Nature will reclaim and the onlooker questions, who, what, where, when. This remnant of the past evokes feelings and emotions that are hard to understand. Sadness, curiosity, and maybe excitement in encountering the unknown. But, for me, it will always be the beauty in decay that will draw me in and keep me coming back for more.

There is a fence is the previous photo. I guess from this vantage point you see why. It’s a great spot to sit, observe, and enjoy what the day and the weather has to offer.
I shot this in Montreal as I came up from some underground. I don’t remember where, wasn’t even sure when, but I do remember it was cold and I was happy to be inside. I came home from that trip with cold burn on my cheeks. Still have the scar to prove it. Just to make myself not feel so bad, I’m saying the scar gives me extra character. Do wish I’d stop adding extra character to my face though!
