He looks like Slade Wilson with an awesome tentacle suit. The third son.

Title: Minuteman

Artist: James Muir

Material: bronze over quarried Kentucky limestone

Venue: In front of the Sons of the American Revolution national headquarters, Main Street, Louisville, Kentucky

(Although in 1775 minutemen were specifically members of New England's militia companies—e.g. Paul Revere—who were trained in weaponry, tactics, and military strategies to fight in the Revolutionary War at a minute's notice against the British, this generic minuteman statue looks like a gentle Kentucky nod to frontier and Revolutionary War hero Daniel Boone, who was not a minuteman but was a patriot. I see Boone hiking under tall Kentucky hardwood trees and a rising sun.😉 Handsome statue.)

Louisville is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the 29th most-populous city in the United States. It is one of two cities in Kentucky designated as first-class, the other being Lexington, the state's second-largest city. Louisville is the historical seat and, since 2003, the nominal seat of Jefferson County, located in the state's north and on the border with Indiana.

Louisville was founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark, making it one of the oldest cities west of the Appalachian Mountains. It is named after King Louis XVI of France. Sited beside the Falls of the Ohio, the only major obstruction to river traffic between the upper Ohio River and the Gulf of Mexico, the settlement first grew as a portage site. It was the founding city of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, which grew into a 6,000-mile (9,700 km) system across 13 states. Today, the city is known as the home of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), the University of Louisville and its Louisville Cardinals athletic teams, Louisville Slugger baseball bats, and three of Kentucky's six Fortune 500 companies. Its main airport is also the site of United Parcel Service's worldwide air hub.

Since 2003, Louisville's borders have been the same as those of Jefferson County, after a city-county merger. The official name of this consolidated city-county government is the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government, abbreviated to Louisville Metro. Despite the merger and renaming, the term "Jefferson County" continues to be used in some contexts in reference to Louisville Metro, particularly including the incorporated cities outside the "balance" which make up Louisville proper. The city's total consolidated population as of the 2017 census estimate was 771,158. However, the balance total of 621,349 excludes other incorporated places and semiautonomous towns within the county and is the population listed in most sources and national rankings.

The Louisville-Jefferson County, KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), sometimes also referred to as Kentuckiana, includes Louisville-Jefferson County and 12 surrounding counties, seven in Kentucky and five in Southern Indiana. As of 2017, the MSA had a population of 1,293,953, ranking 45th nationally.

FOXHOUND is a US Army elite special forces unit that has appeared in numerous forms throughout the Metal Gear series. FOXHOUND was formed to cope with local revolutions, regional complications, and global terrorist activities. This unit specializes in black ops, carrying out top-secret operations within "unauthorized" combat zones which are too politically-sensitive to intervene in through conventional means.

Articulation-wise a vast improvement over the first one, but I still prefer that costume over this one.

Metal Gear Solid is a franchise built on a video game series directed and written by Hideo Kojima. Its a modern revival of the espionage genre filled with crazy code names like Solid Snake and Psycho Mantis, lots of explosions and terrorists stealing big robots. Look for the MSG movie coming out in a big way.

IDW Publishing puts out the Metal Gear Solid comic book and does hands-down the best effort at not only putting out a great yarn but keeping true to the story.

Americana adorning a house in Old Town Marblehead.

--

Without my 8th grade history teacher to corroborate, I speculate that this carved piece may have originated for use on an American colonial merchant ship sailed by Sons of Liberty. Marblehead mariners are generally recognized as the forerunners of the American Navy.

During the period of protest following the Stamp Act of 1765, the British outlawed use of the "Rebellious Stripes" (a flag of 9 vertical red and white stripes that the Sons of Liberty would have hung on Liberty Poles). Continuing with their defiance, the SOL refashioned their flag design by changing the direction of the stripes.

After the Boston Tea Party in 1773, the nine stripes grew to thirteen horizontal red and white stripes representing the 13 original colonies ( Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, and Rhode Island & Providence Plantations). This became the flag commonly used as a United States merchant ensign in the period from 1776-1800.

The imagery on this carved wooden piece contains two draped colonial merchant ensigns with a rebellious shield. The shield uses Union Jack colors, (red- white-blue) but presents with 13 stripes and stars representing the 13 original colonies banding together to fight for independence. The bald eagle would have represented strength, victory and ability to soar above a storm, The two canons would have represented defiance.

History buffs, correct my interpretations if you know more certainly what we see here.

"I want my memory, my existence to remain. Unlike an intron of history... I will be remembered as an exon. That will be my legacy, my mark in history. But the Patriots would deny us even that. I will triumph over the Patriots and liberate us all. And we will become-- the "Sons of Liberty"!"

— Solidus Snake

Solidus was the third "Son of Big Boss" created by the Patriots in the early 1970s, through somatic cell cloning, as part of the project Les Enfants Terribles. The initial phase of the project produced genetically diverse twin clones, one expressing Big Boss's supposedly "inferior" genetic traits, and the other his "superior" traits. The creation of the original clones led to Big Boss's departure from the Patriots. Thus, the organization required a perfect clone in order to retain a figurehead for their organization in the image of Big Boss. Years later, Solidus's DNA would act as the key to the Patriots' master AI, to which Big Boss's genetic code was the key.

As neither of the Twin Snakes were genetically identical to Big Boss, Solidus was created with the same "perfect balance" of dominant and recessive soldier genes that Big Boss possessed. As a result, Solidus possessed a nuclear genome identical to that of Big Boss, and would take much pride in his visible similarity to the man.

The accelerated aging written into each clone's genes provided the fail-safe of a limited life-span, should Solidus's genetic data fall into enemy hands or he himself turn against the Patriots. This was apparently designed to have a greater effect in Solidus's case, thus producing the required figurehead for the Patriots (a United States President in the image of Big Boss) in a relatively short space of time. As a result, Solidus would appear considerably older than his cloned brothers in later life, despite being created shortly afterwards.

Now Playing: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (2011)

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection was developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami.

"Someday you go through the rain, Someday you feed on a tree frog" is a quote from the musical introduction of MGS3: Snake Eater. You literally do just that in the actual game.

Aside from the nostalgia from this PS3 title, I've rediscovered MGS3 recently on the 3DS. Sure you have Snake on the go, but I'd rather whip out Mario Cart and play with friends when "on the go" or when I'm "Not on the go."

I was such a fan of MGS2 and MGS3. I've never had the opportunity to play Peace Walker because I refused to buy a PSP. Now, I get to play it on my Playstation 3 with Konami's MGS HD Collection.

If you have both a PS3 and a 3DS, you're better off buying this one instead of coughing up the full cost of the 3DS MGS3 title. Can't beat having three games in one.

“This is without a doubt the best Solid Snake figure to date.“ Is what I said when I initially posted my first batch of pictures...and I still stand by that today! Now this isn’t a perfect figure. I have some issues with the face sculpt/paint at some angles, and the armpit cut annoys me to no end if I look at it or think about it too much...but I still had so much fun with this interpretation of Solid Snake!

This is a gorgeous figure that has me overly excited for some enemy soldiers releasing later this year (August 2016). I cannot recommend Solid Snake enough!

Again, thank you thank you thank you, to everyone for taking interest in my lists or reading thru all of these and following along. It means the world to me! Now hopefully in 5 months I can do this again and actually have it out on time!

- Metal Gear Solid, 1998

- Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty, 2001

- Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, 2004

Grandes joyitas dentro de la industria de los videojuegos, la verdad comenzar a detallar cada uno de ellos es para largo, solo decir que junto a Snake y cia. hemos vivido muy gratos momentos.

Gracias Kojima...
