Electroluminescent (EL) is an optical and electrical phenomenon where a material emits light in response to an electric current passed through it, or to a strong electric field. Electroluminescent Displays (ELDs) are a type of display created by sandwiching a layer of electroluminescent material such as GaAs between two layers of conductors. When current flows, the layer of material emits radiation in the form of visible light. Greeks, on the other hand, dug up aqueducts to transport cool water to and from public baths and villas. The supply was constant and rotation steady at all times.
The inhabitants of the Middle East were not left behind either. They used a system that connected underground channels to towers. It helped to pull cool air up and push the warm air out. The continuous cycle ensured there was a steady flow of cool air. Lastly, the Victorians made use of their skill in architecture to incorporate special features in their houses that would inhibit high temperatures. These included high ceilings, deep porches, and large recessed windows.
