Now that it's cold and rainy outside I found the time to edit some of my pictures I took in 2015....;-)
I'm going to post a new series with pictures I took in Gdansk (Danzig), Poland on a trip with colleagues last summer.
This is the first picture from the series. It was taken at the entrance of the Gdansk shipyard. The yard gained international fame when Solidarity (Solidarność) was founded there in September 1980.
More to follow....

You remember Solidarność ?
It was 1980, when this union of metal mechanical workers from Poland, started to give life to this great movement of people and ideas, which have gradually destabilized the Polish Communist regime triggering the process of fragmentation of the block communist countries, removing them from political and military hegemony of the USSR. Up to the historical moment of the collapse of the Berlin Wall.
Solidarnosc - Solidarity, like a magic word that can unite people and nations.
After 30 years the word "Solidarity" is almost out of the political language, and is a marginal value that today serves as a magnifying glass to view it ...

Gdansk Shipyard is a large Polish shipyard, located in the city of Gdańsk. The yard gained international fame when Solidarity (Solidarność) was founded there in September 1980. In 1980 Gdańsk was the arena for events that marked the beginning of organized resistance to Communist dictatorship in eastern Europe. A strike by 17,000 ship builders saw Solidarity (Solidarność), led by shipyard electrician Lech Wałęsa, recognised as the first non-communist trade union in the then Soviet Bloc. The move was one of the first successful steps in a campaign of civil resistance that contributed to the eventual collapse of communism across eastern Europe.

It's funny how far Solidaity is now from the image it still has abroad. Just a trade union (one of many), advertising on trams to get attention.

A group of Polish Solidarnosc protesters demonstrated at the foot of Wawel Castle, Krakow, against what appeared to be one-man demonstration. I don't know the details and I didn't ask, but from what I've translated of the banners in Polish (of which I don't know a comma), they seem to revolve around restrictive or liberal policies especially for questions of sexual freedom. Typical of this early XXI Century...
