Buddha (Sanskrit, m., बुद्ध, buddha, wörtlich „Erwachter“, zh. fó 佛) bezeichnet im Buddhismus jemanden, der Bodhi (wörtlich „Erwachen“, oft ungenau mit „Erleuchtung“ übersetzt) erfahren hat. Der historische Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, verwendete die Bezeichnung „Buddha“ sowohl für sich selbst als auch für diejenigen, welche schon früher so wie er aus eigener Kraft, ohne fremde Anleitung, das Erwachen erlangt hatten.
Im Buddhismus versteht man unter einem Buddha ein Wesen, welches aus eigener Kraft die Reinheit und Vollkommenheit seines Geistes erreicht und somit eine grenzenlose Entfaltung aller in ihm vorhandenen Potentiale erlangt hat: vollkommene Weisheit (Prajna) und unendliches, gleichwohl distanziertes Mitgefühl (Karuna) mit allem Lebendigen. Er hat bereits zu Lebzeiten Nirvana verwirklicht und ist damit nach buddhistischer Überzeugung nicht mehr an den Kreislauf der Reinkarnation (Samsara) gebunden. Von „seinem“ Geist kann man eigentlich gar nicht sprechen, da der Buddhismus die Vorstellung eines Ich als fortdauernder, abgetrennter Entität verwirft. Das Erwachen ist von transzendenter Natur, mit dem Verstand des unerwachten, weltverhafteten Menschen nicht zu erfassen, ist „tief und unergründlich wie der Ozean“. Daher entzieht sich diese Erfahrung einer Beschreibung mit umgangssprachlichen oder auch wissenschaftlichen Begriffen. Ihre Qualität ist für Menschen, die diese Erfahrung nicht selbst gemacht haben, nicht nachzuvollziehen.
Eine Buddha-Erfahrung tritt sehr selten auf. Nach der buddhistischen Tradition ist ein Zeitalter, in dem ein Buddha auftritt, ein „glückliches Zeitalter“, denn es gibt sehr viele „dunkle“ Zeitalter, in denen kein Buddha auftritt und deshalb auch keine Lehre der endgültigen Befreiung befolgt werden kann.
Der Buddha des nächsten Zeitalters soll Maitreya sein, während Kashyapa, Kanakamuni und Dipamkara drei Buddhas der Vergangenheit waren.
Insbesondere der tantrische Buddhismus (Vajrayana) kennt eine Fülle von Buddhas, die auch transzendente Buddhas, Adibuddhas oder Tathagatas genannt werden.

My first self-built amplifier is finally completed (except for some possible improvements on the case externals, e.g. the text is still hand-written).
This thing works as a headphone amplifier and a valve pre-amplifier for speakers. It can also work as a passive pre-amplifier and/or crossfeed processor when powered off. There are two switchable inputs and outputs (the headphone socket on the front panel + two sockets in the rear panel).
The original SOHA II amplifier design is by Alex Cavalli. I've made some changes to the power supply (added some line filtering circuitry). The optional (completely bypassable) crossfeed effect is a simplified version of the CORDA CROSS-1 with some component value changes and toggles instead of rotary switches. I like toggles.
I've wanted to build a valve amplifier for a long time, mostly because I think they are really cool (despite running quite hot) and solid-state amplifiers aren't very interesting to me as I can't hear any difference between them (other than imaginary). I'm very happy with the result—with headphones the sound is pleasantly non-tiring and open, and as a pre-amp it gives more “kick” compared to my passive volume control (although at the expense of a higher noise floor).
