The soft shelled crab sandwich ($15.95) is one of my favorite items at Sea Salt Eatery. Sadly, it closes for the year in a couple days, but it definitely creates excitement when they re-open every spring. I had a massive appetizer of fried clams with it as well as delicious clam chowder. But, probably the best aspect of dining here is that it is right next to Minnehaha Falls.

In honor of Portland being named the #2 food city in the US (after Miami and ahead of San Francisco), I'm posting a few more food pics. I think this further argues against the idiotic anti-Portland assertions made by our Commander-in-Thief.
This Spider Roll was a twist on the Vietnamese Fresh Roll -- made with soft shell crab.
Quite a breakfast! Great flavor and portions. From Spoon and Brick in Orange Beach, AL. Bon appetit.
soft-shelled crab and diver scallops with spinach and roasted cherry tomatoes over angel hair pasta
-definitely want to finish the pasta off in the same pan as the crabs
Pan fried soft shelled crab is surprisingly easy to do!
1) Dip cleaned crabs in buttermilk or half&half
2) Toss in a mixture of Korean seafood pancake mix, pepper, and chicken bouillon
3) Pan fry for 1-2 minutes on each side
Dim Sum (點心, 点心, or diǎn xin) refers to a style of small plate Chinese food traditionally served in smaller steamer baskets or dishes that are carted around a restaurant. Dim Sum, which literally means "point of the heart", started as a snack to go with yum cha (飲茶), or "drink tea." Today it has evolved into a staple of Chinese dining culture, particularly in Hong Kong.

The skinny curry laksa is just about the correct richness and spice, just lacking the fragrance of fresh coconut milk. The herbaceaous freshness from the chopped laksa leaves (Vietnamese mint) was a nice touch. Paired with tasty soft-shelled crab, it definitely looks impressive!
The satay chicken was quite pricey for some chopped up pieces of grilled chicken.
The crisp crackling and the juicy pork was good, but a bit of tang or sweetness would be nice. The soft-shelled crab sliders had slices of pickled daikon to balance the greasy, crisp crab.

Most often, one sees a leg or part washed up...It caught my attention because it was whole...still, I thought it was dead? As I changed positions for another shot, it surprised me by
turning, throwing sand everywhere including my lens!

In order of appearance I'd like to thank the following for today:
Mum - for waking me up and trying to explain the rice while I was still half asleep. Love you so much.
Karin - Classy Monkey.
Ether - Small world!
The lady at the Tokidoki shop - Wow, such fantastic attitude and style and GREAT customer service and wow just wow, thank you!
Julia - Wow, you got yourself together girl, Hoorah!
Luka - ZOMG you have a beard and a baaad influence sir :P !
Kate - Still gorgeous as always.
Hmm so what was done today you wonder that needs people to be thanked (see, there I go again, putting words into your heads... tsk tsk naughty me :P).
To be honest you'll probably think it was rather boring, but I was smiling through most of it. Chuckling quietly to myself for the pure reason that I was happy. Happy walking through the city I once lived in, seeing changes, remembering, re-discovering. ^_^
Did some food shopping, read at home, cooked some rice, played with the visiting kitties, met Luka and Kate and Julia for sushi, went to the city and walked to the Valley, learnt that people can change.
Found a diary of 2005 and 2006. It was interesting, but it's something I'd rather not remember and the bits that I want to remember I've cherish in my heart anyway without the use of a diary. It makes me grateful and so thankful (yes I know they mean kinda the same but bear with me here hmkay) for what I have at the moment.
I don't know what will happen in the future, but hopefully it will all work out and I'll never feel the same way I did in the past.

Sushi Tram Station in Stones Corner (Brisbane, Queensland) is definitely one of the best Sushi places I've been to. Maybe as good as my Sushi Train experience in Sydney with my other lovely friend Frances! Great food, ultra friendly staff, and not too expensive. They didn't even mind us taking a few pics (I know some places are a little weird about people taking pics of their food...probably thinking I'm an undercover health inspector or something...HA)
I think Sushi Tram Station visit will become a weekly ritual!

It was skimpy on the soft-shell crab, but it was ok. Not one of my favorites.

No, it's not made of any arachnid of any species. Spider temaki is actually soft shelled crab and is very tasty. The shell itself is crunchy and edible. One of my favorites.

Lunch today at Narita Japanese restaurant with Florence and Sandy. This is what I had: tempura vegetables and dipping sauce, salad and spicy soft-shelled crab. Lots of sake, green tea and miso soup (not in pic)

We Marylanders love our crabs and have many ways to serve them. Soft shelled crabs are really good, because you get to eat everything. There is no shell.
