Another one of those soft moody light days....two trees side by side; one of them picked bare of its berries by robins....thought I'd better hurry with the camera...still unseasonably mild here, not complaining!

A small cottage dwarfed by trees in some soft autumn light sits on the bank of the Fox River where it feeds into Lake Butte des Morts, viewed here through the marsh on the edge of a lotus pond in Terrell's Island Preserve.

A marvelous sunrise at lake Planina (Slovenia)

A new day begins at lake Gerold. In addition to pink clouds over the Karwendel mountain range drew from the northeast fog into the scenery.

Long summer evenings can offer special soft light and long shadows. I took this on my iPhone, looking east to Ivinghoe Beacon, where the Ridgeway, one of England's Long Distance footpaths begins. This Ancient path runs along the top of the terminal moraine, (left at the end of the last Ice Age) and ends at Avebury Stone Circle. A veritable Iron Age highway. . Everything to the north is pretty much flat until you get to the Pennines. The Chiltern Hills, England.

i tried to recreate an effect in the photoshop group ~ this was my attempt and i kinda like it :)

adding the blue:

1) create a new layer and fill with dark turquoise (i used #274252)

2) set the layer to "color"

3) take the opacity down (mine's at about 80%)

4) add a layer mask and paint back people (i lowered the opacity of the brush to about 45%) using a small, soft brush

5) add a vignette: to do this i create a new layer and then use the elliptical marquee tool, with the feather set at 200 and drag out a circle around the center of the picture (in this case anne). select the inverse and fill with black. set layer to "softlight" and then take the opacity down.

Seen and captured during a stroll in the 'Cherry Blossom Avenue' in Bonn. In the 1980s, ornamental Japanese cherry blossom trees were planted in the old town, which today attract many visitors.
