As of recent, our backyard turned into a parrot haven, as the local flock of Cockies discovered that we feed our horses Black Sunflower Seeds. So now they harass us until we give them a taste.

This did allow me to practice a few shots - and most importantly, to finally play around with Light Room Presets (self-created ones).

I'm not 100% happy with the edits, but I love the birds' expressions and their quirky nature, so I decided to upload them after all :)

Challenges I faced: This happened behind my feedshed in the evening hours. At that time, the sun is behind the main house, and the entire area is in shade. So I had to crank up the ISO significantly, and then apply a lot of De-Noise. Note to self: Must see if I can find where they hang out in the mornings instead, and see if I can't get them in better light!

Coreopsis in our wildflower garden

in the blues

...It is nice to know that there can be beauty in even our most ungraceful moments.

Working in the world of rehab medicine I've been fascinated/terrified how aging barns can parallel the aging human body. Many times the walls (or legs) fail first, leaving the attic (or upper body) capable and able. In some barns I see the roof line (or spine) buckle and crumble, leaving the structure of the barn (or person) forever changed. What I have learned is that regardless of the effects of time, there is always a certain beauty that exists.

As always, all comments are welcome. Please do not use this photo without my permission, thanks!

The beat of my heart

It cries out for you over and over

Drowning out all other sounds

Leaving a simple bliss

A tender kiss

That I lose myself to"

Personal work

Our Daily Challenge ... something about me.

I love receiving flowers, I love growing flowers and I love taking macro photos of them. Lately I have also become interested in editing with Pic Monkey. These two shots combine all these things. I grew these flowers in my garden and my littlest grandson very kindly picked them and gave them to me this morning. I put them in some water in a tiny dish and this afternoon took some photos of them. Tonight I edited them using Pic Monkey.

Carol Synopsis

During the 1952 Christmas season, aspiring photographer Therese Belivet works at Frankenberg's Manhattan store. She meets Carol Aird, a glamorous woman looking for a doll for her daughter Rindy. On Therese's advice, Carol buys a model train set instead. When Carol leaves, she puts her gloves on the counter. Therese uses Frankenberg's sales receipt, typing Carol's name and address, and mailing her.

Therese's boyfriend Richard asks her to go to France with her hoping that they will marry, but is unsure about their relationship. Dannie, a mutual friend, invites Therese to her workplace, The New York Times, and offers to introduce her to a photo editor friend. Meanwhile, Carol is going through a difficult divorce from her husband Harge.
