So many waterfalls! We just moved from Portland to central Oregon. Now I have so many new waterfalls to catch up with. This is a Santiem favorite, Soda Creek Falls in Cascadia State Park. Just excited to get out of the house really. We were glad to see that this waterfall, while smaller, still delivered. In fact I read there is some debate about this waterfall even qualifying as a waterfall. Huh? Did you see it? Makes me miss Pluto. ;(

Macro Mondays theme: candies
These Bottle Caps candies are supposed to resemble the lid of soda pop bottles and taste like Grape, Orange, Cola, Cherry and Root Beer flavours of soda pop.
Thanks to everyone for your views and comments! HMM!
One of the scenic wonders along the road to Cooke City.
The Lamar Valley is not known for its thermal activity. That is why this mostly extinct hot spring looks so out of place standing all by itself with vast valleys and rugged mountain peaks in the background, often surrounded by bison.
"Although the naming of this now mostly dormant hot spring cone was inaccurately derived, named by A. Bart Henderson in 1866, it is actually formed from deposits of travertine (calcium carbonate) and not soda ash (sodium carbonate), its name survived. Of interest, the location of Soda Butte is where the last of the wolves were killed during the government’s wolf extermination period of the past (around 1929) and was also the location where the first reintroduction of wolves to the park took place."

Thanks for taking a look!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
This shot was taking from a moving boat going up the Jervis inlet on the way to Chatterbox Falls. This falls cascades directly into the Jervis Inlet. It was hard to capture properly as the boat was rocking and we only had 30 seconds to grab a shot. Luckily not everyone is a waterfall junkie like me and I got this shot!!1 Thanks for looking... Kris
A lovely spot in Yellowstone. Put on the water hiking shoes and went out into the creek for some creek point of view captures.
Before the days of Starbucks and other trendy coffee shops, people in towns of any size would walk into the local soda fountain for a pick-me-up. If you’ve never had a Coca Cola from a fountain you’ve never really tasted “The Real Thing”. Many drug stores or apothecaries had a long bar that served as a soda fountain. You could also sit at tables with your friends while imbibing the precious liquid. Snacks and sandwiches were also available as many coffee shops today are starting to discover are necessary besides the brew. What goes around comes around. As Solomon said: “There is nothing new under the sun”.
Soda Dam is made of travertine, calcium carbonate precipitated from groundwater. There are currently 15 springs and seeps in the Soda Dam area with a maximum temperature of 48 degrees C. The springs that precipitated the travertine discharge from a strand of the Jemez fault zone that runs through the area. The maximum age of the travertine deposits is 7000 years. However, older deposits in the area have been dated at 480,000 to 1 million years old.
It was a real treat to see this natural wonder covered in icicles.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

Tom made some soda bread. I cut a very thin slice for this photo.
