I've been doing a MOCK over on Ravelry (mystery sockalong) - finished this morning. My first proper stranded socks, first Latvian braid, first time doing this picot hemmed cuff, first time completely on magic loop. Not a bad effort, wish my cascading stripes were more even.

I wasn't happy knitting these socks. Fair isle is not my forte, and with a thicker yarn it's even more difficult I think. Also, I don't get the afterthought heel. It fits fine, but I don't understand why I would like to knit the heel last? Enlighten me please if you have any ideas about that.

My mom really liked these socks when she saw me knitting them, so now I have a Mother's Day gift done, and that's a good thing. And now that the socks are done, I think they are kinda cute. No more fair isle for me for a while though.

Gentleman's Fancy Sock - Nancy Bush from Knitting Vintage Socks

my mom made these!

I love these socks. I love these shoes. They both make me happy. The yarn was Regia Nation Color in Finland, and the shoes are B&W Mary Janes from Spain. A multi-national effort if I ever saw one.

These came from the same ball of yarn, but the colours pooled in a completely different way on each sock.
