Only a few below the Soča spring are several waterfalls. This is, in my opinion, the most beautiful. The water makes a 90 ° turn under a rock overhang.

The last look on the river Soča (this time in the opposite direction, with the mountains at background) during our way back after seeing the Kozjak Waterfall :)
Soča is a 137-kilometre long river that flows through western Slovenia and northeastern Italy. An Alpine river in character, its source lies in the Trenta Valley in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia, at an elevation of 876 metres. Due to its emerald-green water, the river is marketed as "The Emerald Beauty." It is said to be one of the rare rivers in the world that retain such a colour throughout their length. The river is also well known for the marble trout (Salmo marmoratus); this species is native to rivers of the northern Adriatic basin, and it lives in the upper course of the river. This species is currently endangered, due to the introduction of other non-indigenous trout species sometime between World War I and World War II.

The region is mainly famous for its emerald green river, the Soča, which winds its way through green valleys and narrow gorges.

Taken at the end of our first full day in Slovenia. We stopped at the Soca River hoping to get a sunset, but unfortunately we didn't get the light we wanted. However it didn't take away from what an amazing location it was. The colour of the water was absolutely stunning, as was the surrounding scenery.
The Soča in the valley above Boveč always offers spectacular and fascinating images; you could take photos every few meters. Sometimes it splashes along quietly, then it has dug itself deep into the rock again. By the way - as cold as the water looks, it is!
The stretch of Soča river from Trnovo to Kobarid is very demanding, but also fun. Despite nice weather end of June there were not many people.
I havent had a great deal of time over the last few months for photography or Flickr. There's too much to do! I plan to post more regularly over the next few... This image is taken by the wonderful Soca river in Slovenia.
When you stand here on the edge of the Soča - the mountain stream in the west of the Julian Alps, it takes your breath away! On the one hand because of the incredible color of the water - the Soča is also called the "Emerald river" - on the other hand - what nature has created here! It's summer now - imagine what's going on here when the snow is melting!
