I had to use a higher ISO than I like to with my camera so this one is a little soft from the noise reduction. However I couldn't have gotten the shot like I did of this great egret at high island rookery with thisbeautiful sky without it being that high

This palm tree has totally rejuvenated itself, we all thought it might be dead after the freaky winter freeze storm that hit our area earlier this year.

The gulls take to the sky for a little lake shore fishing. The distant clouds are moving in slowly since no wave action, and just enough light so no lights on in he lighthouse!

My husband and I recently took a trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. On the trip back home the wind was blowing pretty hard and was kicking up snow and producing these really cool images. It still amazes me how much just converting an image to black and white can change the overall photo!
P.S. This was taken through a windshield going about 70mph!
Another photo where I am just showing my progress on learning to photo flying birds. I feel like there is a good photo in a silhouette flight against the clouds. Now I just need to perfect it.
This is one of my favourite photos I've taken this year. There are many brilliant wildlife pictures on Flickr and in terms of image quality this does not compete: it was taken in lowlight well after sunset and was subject to a fairly severe crop. However, it was the first time I'd seen an owl in the wild and I managed to track it over several fields before grabbing this hand held shot. To me, this is a big part of the enjoyment of photography. Finding something new and of interest and capturing it to the best of one's ability. The owl may have been soaring but my heart was too!

A westbound Canadian National freight crosses the Fraser River over Cisco Bridge at Cisco, British Columbia, on September 27, 2001. Powering the train is the interesting consist of EMD SD50F No. 5450 leading a trio of former CN SD40s now owned by Alstom, but still lettered GEC Alsthom Transport, and rebuilt into SD40-3s. CN’s Cisco Bridge is 247 meters (810 feet) long and 67 meters (220 feet) high, and also crosses over the parallel Canadian Pacific main line.

Back to one of the countless waterfalls in Iceland, the mighty Skogafoss. As I mentioned in the caption of Where Rainbows End, the crowds of tourists forced me to zoom into the scene and shoot more intimate compositions. And as luck would have it, at the exact moment I pressed the shutter to take a picture of this abstract-looking composition of falling water, a bird flew through the scene and I happened to catch it right in the third of the frame. So unlike the image At World's End which I took in the Westfjords where we really waited until a bird was in the frame, this image was pure luck, and since I couldn’t get any of the classic compositions with the river in the foreground because of all the people, I was really happy when I noticed the bird on the back display of my camera. I hope you like it too!
Even though I'm quite busy at the moment since I just started my new job, I managed to get outside on the weekend to take a few images of some liverworts as long as they are still flourishing. Initially, I wanted to get outside in the early morning to catch some beautiful sunrise light, but unfortunately it was overcast and I had to wait til the early afternoon for the sun to get through the clouds. Typically this is not the best time for taking photographs, but I then searched for some liverworts in the shade and made use of the illuminated primulas in the background to get some nice bokeh.
