First experiments at shooting a horizontal soap film across the top of a jar (my others prior to this have all been in a vertical 'bubble wand') The lighting was provided by a lamp which shone a circle, or oval, of light onto the mixture, giving the shape.

I bought some bubble mixture with this plastic 'wand' today (in a shop here called 'The Works') for under £1. This is a first experiment using the wand as a frame for a soap film. Although the bubble mixture in the pot works just about as well, I mixed vegetable gelatine, shampoo and sugar for this shot (seen better at a larger size of course) Getting the angle right is almost impossible because my lamp needs to stand exactly where the camera is, or else the wand has to be angled. So, there has to be a slight compromise which makes the DoF difficult to get right. I shall keep trying!
The inner ring above measures 18mm in diameter, ISO 100, F8 and shutter speed 1/250 sec. I used artificial lighting - just an office lamp (right next to the camera lens, both pointing forward) with a 60W bulb, no special photograpic lighting.
Part of the Yukon First United Methodist Youth. As a fundraiser they had made soap and were busy selling it.
From their sales pitch (and low prices) I decided to go with some dinosaur soap.

The inner circle which I use for these photos measures 18mm. This latest series of shots are of tiny areas within that ring.
This place has had a few names and also several owners. It made soap products of all kinds and had been in Toronto's portlands area for almost 100 years. It was a huge complex that isn't currently very accessible, both because of the location and what's also going on around it, construction-wise.
This site was supposed to be reused and had been used as a filming location for almost a decade after it closed down. Gulf originally proposed that this would remain a work-focused site, but of course, it was later sold to CF and then demolition was in order and now it's supposed to be all condos vs. manufacturing or office space. Thank god for the power of the MZO bypass! 16 new condos seem like a much better deal in an isolated location.
These are photos from different periods. I was amazed at how this was one of the few buildings that felt much bigger inside than it looked outside. It also used to have a train layup next to it - which was quite hard to find in the '90s when walking from the North as it was more closed off then. This whole area was a real mystery to me until I started riding my bike down here and finding more things concealed by the landscape.

Fun Amongst the Soap..
Thanks for taking the time to look at my shots. Much appreciated!

Back to shooting soap again! This time I used undiluted washing up liquid in a tiny frame (a child's 'bubble wand'). The inner circle (which contains the soap) measures 18mm.
The patterns and colours are natural apart from being brightened in Photoshop - and I have removed the outer, ugly, plastic frame too. .
There are two more shots in the Comments.

Description: just a little experiment with a yellow soap ball in a bathtub, hAh! I just dropped the soap ball into the tub and pressed the shutter at 1/125s at f/4.5 . I only had to take 3 shots to clean my camera and bathroom which were wet all over :)
Technique: Not much post-processing this time. In PS I made some colors pop by using a couple of adjustment layers: Hue/Saturation, Selective Color and a custom Curve.
Hope you like it. Have a great weekend ya'll!
Mmm... more soap that looks like food. I just figured a soap bar is already square, and that's the same as bread, so why not? Here's a soap that looks and smells like a PB&J. The fragrance is just like PB&J scratch and sniff stickers, which I love.
Still going through my new soap photos from the other night - more to add later too.

Another find which decorates my bathroom now: Soap of Kirkman Soap Co. NYC and of Colgate-Palmolive Co. Both products were on shelves in the 40ies - and the paper wrap is still intact!
Spent the weekend in the city again. Love this shop, Sabon NYC. Soap flakes on the left and bath balls on the right :)

Mostly shampoo with a small amount of water. A crop of a tiny area to show some detail .

My version of Soap from MW2. I tried to key on the blue and grey colors of the TF141 logo. I would also place this at the end of the campaign, which is why Soap is looking so haggard here.
Getting this soap for you or as a gift is a nice choice. The Gummy Bear Soap is a clear pina Colada soap that has a very beautiful and lovely smell. Using the soap can however be very tricky, especially for beer lovers, as you would have to decide if you want to start using the head, leg, front,...
