"Rogue 3, Rogue 1, mountain ridge up ahead, set flight altitude to 20ft, over."
Rogue1, Rogue 3, copy, out."
The snowspeeder passing the mountain ridge at high speed at only 20ft, the turbulence stirring up the resting snow.
Little known fact: the Lucasfilm crew made a blunder in Norway back in the winter of 1979. As we all know, they were doing a fine job shooting their movie but at the same time they were a little too careless with everything they had shipped to the location. Snowspeeders, beasts of the ice planet and even the big AT-AT walkers were frequently left unguarded. And sure enough, eventually one of these giants escaped the area during a snowstorm.
Now, 37 years later, we have a feral AT-AT walker loose up here in the north. It's never been caught, it's a master of disguise. Luckily, this thing is not dangerous but it makes a big mess stepping on parked cars and such.
Thanks a lot Lucasfilm!
When the day has come to change your life and you are finally ready to join the Light Side of the Force - and you can't get the key for your Snowspeeder, because the craftsman has installed the new key rack beyond your reach. Inspired by the current situation at home: craftsmen and renovation work. Makes me want to join the Dark Side of the Force.
Yes. I did it, I went to the toy shop and bought Star Wars Lego. Just for MMs. The Stormtrooper figure is really tiny, just 4,5 cm (1,77165 inches), and the key, a pendant (a present from my brother), is even tinier, 1,5 cm (0,590551 inches).
Size of what you see in the frame: 7,5 x 7,5 cm (2,95276 x 2,95276 inches).
Thank you for your comments and faves, they are highly appreciated!
A Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!
The backlog, part III (late 2016/early 2017)
The first MOC I finished after moving to Japan, though the initial concept began before then when the new X-Wing canopy came out with the first wave of TFA sets. The moment I saw it I wanted to frame it using the various wedge parts here. The rest developed incrementally, and it was the better part of a year before it arrived at a finished state. X-Wing cockpit aside, the Y-Wing and Snowspeeder were the more dominant inspirations here. I remember I was also interested to try a more eye-catching black as opposed to greyscale greebling.
I think this is where I started to plateau with my part transitions, and from thereafter I decided to focus more on aesthetic and color, which I was beginning to become dissatisfied with in my work.
The transit of a moon seen from the surface of Hoth is a spectacular sight. Even in a howling blizzard, if the clouds were thin enough to let the sun shine through, the rebel speeder patrol flights were often paused just for the pilots could step out and enjoy the magnifcient celestial display.
Little known fact: The planet Hoth has three unnamed moons. Like with most planets, the moons' orbits around Hoth bring them in conjunction with the sun from time to time. The moons are too small to eclipse the sun, they only transit across it. The event is often refferred to as "the doughnut".
I tried to find out whether the moons of Hoth have names. Apparently they don't. I want to name one, where do I sign?
The thing about this photograph is that snowspeeder, of course. Many of you recognize it, I'm sure. It is almost an exact Larry Lars build with just a few modifications. I had attempted to build this several years ago. I downloaded the Larry Lars instructions, bought the bricks from Bricklink but eventually I couldn't figure out the build. I gave up.
So, this particular speeder was not built by me, nor Larry Lars. I received it as a generous gift from Dark Alamez who didn't know that I had tried to build one earlier. I am very grateful for this gesture.
I like that snowspeeder a lot. I've had it on my desk for months now, waiting for a good day to shoot it. In my current cycle of work such days are rare as hen's teeth, but last sunday night I took the time from my good night's sleep and just shot it.
You'll see more of it later, I'm sure.
So I wanted to start my January MOCs with my Aclamator class, but since it's only half done, I decided to post this. Its a MOC based on the first order snowspeeder. Hope you guys like it :)
About a year ago I built the wonderful snowspeeder designed by hachiroku92. Since then, I have been tinkering with the build to the point where I have something I am happy with, with inspiration drawn from classic_brix and juergen_wittner I am proud to finally present this model to you all.
I wonder whether they really paid for the two lots they're taking here?
A few years ago, I was photographing the life of my local town and I've popped into this on a garage near my home. It's the same place, where I discovered two Snowtroopers on a patrol. This was actually a very nice find, as I'm a big fan of those speeders.
This is one of the rejected shots from 2014. I've started to play with the other day to see it, if I've could manage to have a proper feel and touch on this. I haven't done these kind of compositions a much, so pardon my errors here and there, if you spot any. Personally I really like its cinematic feel. Kinda reminds me of a frame I've missed on a dream.
The T-47 airspeeder is a model of low-altitude vehicle manufactured by Incom Corporation. The T-47 was modified by the Rebel Alliance technicians into a patrol and combat craft, becoming commonly known as the snowspeeder, especially after its extensive use at Echo Base on Hoth. Its cockpit featured positions for a forward-facing pilot and a rear-facing cargo manager. The cargo manager used the airspeeder's magnetic harpoon and tow cable to control repulsorlift cargo modules.
This is a third photo for the Snowspeeder series I've opened a some time ago. You can see two others here and here. Also, would like to point out that these are NOT computer generated 3D images. The whole series (and all my stuff here on Flickr) is purely based on photography.
We agreed that we will return to the base in time. I could not have guessed that it was faster than I had imagined ... well, at least I got a new photo of a majestic Snowspeeder leaving me on the ground! However, this is not the end of my story, because i was lucky and they came back to pick me up later. You know how cold the nights are on Hoth.
Oh, what a set-up that was! Tower spun three times on the floor and you can only imagine that the whole landscape was ruined for every time it happened. Snowspeeder also dropped down at least the same number of times as the tower, and I have to admit that I cursed a few times! Scene pretty much evolved all the time and luckily for the better direction during these attacks. I removed four fishing lines from the airspeeder in Ps. No other tricks. Powder of snow below the Snowspeeder is all in-camera.
It's been, what...three, four years since my last proper MOC? Well, now that I know I'll be renting the same room for the rest of my time at university, I moved a good chunk of my collection in with me and went on a Bricklink spree.
Then I had a quick conversation with EB member LilMeFromDaFuture, (www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=112692&s...) and he was looking into different combinations of slopes to minimize the stepped effect of SNOT wings. Well, if you really want to get rid of that stepped edge, you flip the entire thing around and put the flat edge on the outside, right? So I did that.

And you can still see some of the influence of Larry Lars's speeder, especially in the canopy.

This is a second photo of the Snowspeeder series I've opened a few days ago here. Here's first one.
An overview of the hangar set I made (though in reality, it's little more than a single wall!) If I'm honest it doesn't really convince - the set's not deep enough for the perspective trick to work, which is why the other photos I took were close-up's - but I thought you guys might like to see it nevertheless.
Here's Kesin Ommis, Cesi Eirris and Keyan Farlander are trying to figure out who will the pilots of the next flight. I'm not quite sure whether they will choose this using paper, scissors, rock, since there are only seats in the Snowspeeder... good luck for that!
These are all Hasbro's toys I've got from Sweden a few years ago. I opened the package of the figures only for this session a week ago, as the Snowspeeder has been lying out here and there in my "studio". This scene is from the latest Snowspeeder photo session. I think this became a pretty nice scene and it's easy to share with you, guys and gals!
Also called the Snowspeeder, this model was built by Larry Lars. For being so small, it is intensely intricate, and incredibly well designed. You can also find instructions on his page. Enjoy~
*MINOR SPOILER BELOW*
I was surprised how FO Snowspeeder was skipped in the movie. I saw it once for a very short time. Luckily a list of deleted scenes was discovered yesterday which gave me an opportunity to use this…weird vehicle in a scene from TFA.
Hope you like it guys, this isn't really a movie scene, just my own creation ;)
I just got new Snowspeeder, first since 99' one. I customised a bit sides of the ship by adding orange bricks ;)
Hope you like it!
This is what Luke does when the cameras are off. Maintaining the Snowspeeder.
Everything is all in-camera.

As I'm a huge fan of this particular vehicle, I'm opening a new series dedicated to this magnificent repulsorcraft.
The snowspeeder hit by imperial AT-AT blaster fire comes crashing down and disappears in a cloud of snow.
A few days ago I was hiking with snowshoes on the plains of Hoth. I thought to test the new drone to take a landscape images. It was cloudy. In fact, so cloudy that the drone disappeared among the clouds from time to time, when I flew it. However, I gave my camera a run to test the flight characteristics and co-operation with the camera.
I watched the results from the day later in the evening. Most of the pictures were pictures of clouds and snowy ground. They did not have anything of interest, but one frame attracted my attention. It was this shot of the Snowspeeder driving close to the ground through the snowy terrain.
I'm pretty sure that the speed was very low, because the camera's shutter speed was very low, and it still is caught on film as a very sharp object. I can say that this frame saved the day!
Hoth has been good to me lately. It is not too cold to use the camera and accessories, because the wind is not as biting as last winter.
Radio guy: "break break…"
Radio guy: "…we have a smoke in the cockpit, we have smoke in the cockpit"
...
Radio guy: "that's a negative, i repeat, that's a negative!"
Radio guy: "roger"
Unfortunately I didn't heard the full conversation, but they seem to have an emergency situation with one of the snowspeeders, again. The economy really strikes back this time! In case you've missed, here's Economy Strikes Back.
This has been waiting on my desk about a month or so. I've struggled a bit with this one. I guess the smoke here works better like this. I think I this particular shot from the session works very well. Smoke coming from cockpit looks really neat on this one, not to mention the surface of the snow against the mountain in the background. This is almost all in-camera: there was unwanted smoke behind the radio guy and I needed to wipe that out. I still feel very lucky!

I built this MOC to go along with my new snowspeeder design. I built this in maybe a day and a half. This was a pain to photograph so the quality of this main photo is lacking a little bit. It is a pretty simple design. A lot of white bricks and some signature hoth builds like the turret, AT-AT, and some snow troopers. Hope you enjoy!
Built for the Star Wars: Evolved contest on FBTB. Equal parts snowspeeder, Cylon Raider, and Jon Palmer's Scumcraft (how many old timers remember that?)
Follow me:
"… we need a toolbox seven and we need it now to fix the tow cable… Over and out!"
"Whadda you gonna do with that harpoon, anyway?"
"…just checking whether we need a new cable, too"
"It is what it is. we don't have money for the new cable, economics is so poor right now. unless we get one from the imperial auction with a discount..."
These ships are pretty useless without the proper replacement parts. The entire galaxy is still suffering from poor management of the economy, which deteriorated even more when Emperor built hundreds of thousands of small cottages here for the Stormtroopers. Constant cold and biting wind are combined such that the only living things on Hoth are the troops of Rebels and Snowtroopers. And Wampa's and… Eeeh!
I had another picture in mind when I started to do this. Usually it happens that the image you have in your mind turns out to be quite different from what I was thinking at first. But it is only a good thing, because I get to experience the full range of views in this way. In fact, I think this scene is better than what I thought at first!
My minifigure scale snowspeeder moc.
More photos will follow in the next couple of days!
Credit to Bernard (Brickvault snowspeeder) for a great starting point :)
I guess this was an experiment, or whatever. The uplink was a peculiar one to figure out, as it had all this detail, but within a small space. I tried to get that as accurate as possible, as well as the antennae, which was really my own take on the design. Still learning about Gimp, albeit on my own, and figured out how to do a blur on the snowspeeders, so that's cool. But yeah, that's about it.
I think y'all are gonna like my next photo. It's pretty great XD
Hoth Echo Base is coming together. A build for Legoland California Star Wars Days 2016. I am building it in a modular form, connected with pin connectors for ease of transport and storage. Upper section still needs work and staging. Still waiting on parts to build 2 X-wings and 4 more Speeders. Might have to make the base longer to accommodate them all.
I realize the entrance should be wider, but I am limited to the table depth that it will sit on.
No time to reinvent the wheel, so using awesome designs from Larry Lars for the snowspeeder (2011 version) and Mike's X-wings (not pictured).
My original build for Brickvention 2017, i decided to scale down my plans and make it in the format of my Jabba's Palace Moc (Where a bunch of different rooms and scenes from one location are joined together with different timestamps), and it's a format i'll use again. This was mainly something to kill time in the mornings or nights during the holidays. I really wanted to put the scar on Snoke's head, i was going to use the sticker from the Rocket Raccoon Polybag but i couldn't find it and didn't want to sharpie an expensive and useful piece (His dome head). I absolutely loved how the Snowspeeder turned out too. Let me know what you guys think!
Length: 18.6 Meters
Manufacturer: Incom Corp.
Crew: Pilot and Gunner
Designer: Abe
This is a completely made up design that was inspired by the original trilogy snowspeeder. I thought it could us a bit of an upgrade. I thought the windscreen pieces from some of the speed chamions sets looked like a cool replacement to the smaller snowspeeder ones. I also wanted to changed the color scheme from white to a light bluish grey. Shiptember has me in the mood to build more vehicles and ships. I hope you enjoy!
From the original storyboards of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back I recreated the shot when Luke Skywalker is piloting a Snowspeeder facing the AT-ATs during the Battle of Hoth.
This is an entry for a LEGO Star Wars Concept Art Contest hosted by the Eurobricks community. (www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/185377-m...)
From one of my favourite scenes, my Battle of Hoth takes inspiration from the "Brick Sketches" developed by Chris McVeigh. I always wanted to make one and this was the perfect opportunity to make it a reality. This frame is composed of 46 x 24 studs and it also combines microscale elements. The model can also be displayed on a wall and has 3 removable micro Snowspeeders.
All parts used in the model (847pcs) currently exist, I made sure that I used LEGO pieces that are available and are easy to get. I will hopefully at the end of this summer share a free link for the building instructions and a digital parts file if you are interested in building a copy for yourself or giving it as a gift to another Star Wars fan :D
Also, a special thanks to the member MKJoshA aka @Josh for the heads up for this awesome contest at Eurobricks.
Thanks for reading, feel free to comment and share.
May the Force Be with You!
Shortly after the Battle of Endor, the Rebellion knew that the temperamental T-47 airspeeders they had been modifying for atmospheres like those of Hoth were proving to cost more in upkeep than they were worth. The decision was made to develop a newer version alongside Incom and produce them for the cold weather planets of the galaxy. The T-51 has been updated with a dedicated pilot, and gunner who now faces forward to fire the 8 small laser cannons. Speed and agility have been increased, as well as the ability to adapt it various other planetary climes.
Built for the FBTB Star Wars: Evolved Contest.
UPDATE: this tied for 3rd place out of 78 entries!
