We had such a good time this morning in the new-fallen snow that we couldn't decide on a single photo; this one
to show you how I felt about my start to the day!

You have to love the weather forecasters on TV in the South. For days before this years snowfall whipping up excitement about the storm, predicting 6 to 8 inches of snow in this area. They were singlehandedly responsible for not being able to find bread or milk at the grocery store lol. In reality we got about 2 inches and it's all gone today with highs in the 50's and 70's predicted midweek but that's just meteorologists swinging the other way fooling people in to thinking it's Spring. haha
Whatever I'm happy I got a few shots so life is sweet. :-)
Wishing you all a super Saturday and as always thank you for your friendship. :-)))
Meaning of Snowmageddon: A severe blizzard or series of blizzards affecting one locale.
We had lots of warning. Today it's snowed for 24 hours and, at this point, we have no less than 30.48cm (1ft).

Or 'snow' as the rest of the world calls it. We've enjoyed a few days of snow and bitterly cold temperatures in the North East of England, but that couldn't stop us walking down to the pub and back last Friday for a rather average lunch with good friends!

I study in the coffeeshop on the 2nd floor of this building every weekday and I have for the past 5 years. Today, however, this University of Chicago building was closed along with every other one because of the 20"+ snow we received between 1:00pm Monday and sometime this morning.
I strongly recommend that you push L to view this image large and on black.
We're having a real winter in Ontario this year. Quite a change from the little snowfall we've had around here for the last few winters.
Yesterday we got this much snow in less than 24 hours! I first moved to Squamish in 1961 and have never seen it like this.
“WE ARE BAILING OUT!”, I promptly shouted.
And so I halted the car on the top of a snowy mountain range and made a U-turn. It was the tipping point of the mental state I was in - the result of a nerve wrecking drive on icy roads with dozens of hairpin turns, no-grip ascends and slippery descends.
I failed to rent a 4x4 earlier that day, and the standard transportation vehicle they gave me didn’t come with snow chains. With the hills getting steeper and steeper my ambition dropped drastically. This was proper rural exploration: no barrier between us and the deep. Stall and you lose.
We both agreed on calling off this suicide mission, and headed back towards civilisation. Upon doing so I could spot a small car coming towards our direction. The sole car we saw since we left a small village half an hour ago. I was baffled someone took their chances up-hill.
A worn-out 80s Fiat passed us and an old man in his late seventies was behind the steering wheel. His face was all wrinkled and grooved - he’d seen more winters than us, foolish youngsters.
This old fella was oozing confidence and persistence, he was going to nail that mountain top. While passing our snow-stranded car he greeted us with the biggest smile ever. And this, my friends, was a sign. Maybe not an act of God, or a supernatural occurrence that science can’t explain. But it was a sign nevertheless. Telling us one thing: there’s nothing to it but doing it.
We returned to Snowmageddon.
With Mirna, 2015.
A photo I snapped out of the side window of our truck. It snowed so much over the course of three days that I can't even get my car out of its spot! :S
But this is Canada afterall, eh? (haha)
On Friday December 8th, part of north Georgia received the most snow the state had seen since 1993 measuring over a foot in some places. In this shot at Jac Mac the snow was about 8 inches deep as train I98 passes a Scherer coal train tied down on main 2.

I lovez snow.
It always makes me want to sing one of my favorite tunes.
Hit it Ms. Clooney.

A tank train dead on 1 at Mannheim, G41's power underneath the Tollway, and a mixed freight arriving Bensenville all while last winter's climactic snow storm bears down on Chicago. Just another fun winter in Chicagoland.
A year ago we had a weather event that began with snow and ice and dangerously low temps. Ended up with many, including myself, losing power for hours & enduring scary survival conditions. I'm still a bit traumatized. But there were some good things that came with the storm. Like this visit from a northern flicker. First one ever in my yard. So, trying to remember and focus on the beauty and positive things from a year ago.

I survived Snowmageddon! I was at the fence for about 6 hours 12 - 6 pm! The snow kept falling heavy continuously! Couldn't see the skyscrapers barely. I was determined but then I got cold & wet. I gave up & went home. It started raining few moments later. But lucky I got good photo! Whew! Seattle just went thru 4 rounds of Snowmageddon! Is it over? Dunno. But I’m done with the hole in fence! Next year then!
Snowstorm in Western PA that took place 11 years ago today.
Shot this with a Nikon Coolpix in AUTO. I was a noob back then.

Hardly a "big one" up here, but they apparently got a lot more snow in the southern part of Puget Sound.
This winter has been completely fuct I haven't seen this much snow since the 90's! There was 1.3 meters of snow piled up against the wall that we had to dig out and then it was on...... Miller Time baby! Beer and Beef Jerky on super Sunday.... real living...Winter X Games!
Keep'n it clean and simple......

Delnice town snowmageddon in Croatian Gorski Kotar region, something like this you rarely see even on the eastern shores of Great lakes in the United States, which are famous for lake snow effect
So the predicted 19-25 inches of snow turned out to be “merely” 13 or so in my area, but it’s still a huge pain for those of us with only street parking options who now must dig out our cars to move for the snow emergency. Made me remember this “happy little snow mound” from a February storm in 2019. I couldn’t resist playing with that “smile”!
From the window you can see the top of the little garden, treetops and the top of the fence.
We've been having the most severe winter for decades and it has been like this for the last 3 months, with no end in sight.
We are buried in snow and the temperatures have been lower than -30C/ -22F for several weeks.
