GoPro Featured Photographer - @PeterMorning About the Shot: As I was skiing around @MammothMountain looking for some shoot locations, I saw Duke, our #ski patrol dog, who always puts a smile on my face. Duke was doing his weekly #avalanche training where the patrol team buries articles of clothing in a mock avalanche. I watched Duke from afar and as he found his last fake victim, he started jumping and rolling around in excitement. I skied up to him and congratulated him on his task of the day. He was stoked! How the Shot was Captured: Duke was jumping up and down with excitement of his accomplishment. I had my #HERO4Black with the LCD BacPac attached to it in the frame on #TheHandler. I loosened the frame screw and pulled the camera back as far it would ago and then retightened the screw. Holding the handle in my fingers with my thumb on the trigger button, I rolled around on the ground with Duke cheering him on and snapping photos as fast as I could. We ended up playing around for a good while and then it was time to go. As he was jumping up and down on this last shot, I hit the trigger without looking at the LCD BacPac but I knew every photo was gold because of his smile and the fresh snow in the foreground. Good thing no one was around recording video because I’d probably look funny acting like a dog on my hands and knees!! Camera was set to 30/3s Burst-Mode with Pro Tune on, Sharpness low, ISO 400 with GoPro color. #GoProSnow #DogsOfInstagram #SnowFun

On Monday, January 26th, 2015, the first wave of a giant blizzard pummeled through New York City. Many New Yorkers were let out of work and school early to race home the expected 20-30 inches of snow. Others explored the white washed landscape.

Last week we spent four days in Dubai. I made many pictures, but I still have to upload some of England.

This is just for now a video made in Ski Dubai, where everbody can have fun, even when you wear a veil and an abaya; special coats for over the abayas are available.

Ski Dubai is an indoor ski resort with 22,500 square metres of indoor ski area. It is a part of the Mall of the Emirates, one of the largest shopping malls in the world, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was developed by Majid Al Futtaim Properties, which also operates the Mall of the Emirates.

Opened in November 2005, the indoor resort features an 60-meter high indoor mountain with 5 slopes of varying steepness and difficulty, including a 400-metre-long run, the world's first indoor black run and various features (boxes, rails, kickers) that are changed on a regular basis. A quad lift and a tow lift carry skiers and snowboarders up the mountain. Adjoining the slopes is a 3,000-square-metre Snow Park play area comprising sled and toboggan runs, an icy body slide, climbing towers, giant snowballs and an ice cave. Ski Dubai is also home to a number of penguins who come out to play several times a day. Penguin encounters can be booked, allowing the public to interact directly with the penguins. Winter clothing, ski and snowboard equipment are included in the price of admission.

Too cool! Visitors from a far off land, China, at Queen Elizabeth Park, in Vancouver, B.C., despite the recent snow fall; obviously having a great time.

Photo taken Nov. 2006.

"...So near the birch-tree, white and slim,

We trod a big, round place for him,

And rolled great puffy snowballs that

Would make him very tall and fat.

We got fresh snow, and soft and white,

To put his joints together right;

Some shiny bits of coal, and round,

To fix a buttoned coat we found;

Potatoes were his mouth and eyes,

Astonishing in shape and size;

A rosy apple was his nose, And last, to crown his head, we chose

A barrel-hoop, all set about

With turkey feathers, stiff and stout....."

More fun on the snowy, icy lake this afternoon including breaking in a new set of snowshoes, and shovelling off the ice surface. #snowfun❄️ #paudashlake #thelakehouse

NOT a Snow Dog

Nash came to live with us over the long Independence Day weekend in 2010. He was rescued from an abandoned property in Kentucky, where he lived as one of (depending on the version of the story you heard) nine or nineteen dogs. My brother found him at the Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton and the Grrls adored him immediately. Pixie likes to curl up on the couch with him. Sydney has a tendency to push him around (Nash is a bit of a wuss) but they both love him anyway.

Nash has taken a beating in his life. He's been shot (X-rays show shotgun pellets) and he has a lot of old scars on his muzzle -- we think a few higher-ranking dogs have 'disciplined' him for checking for leftovers before they were done eating. He has a heavy build for a Border Collie, and that with his proportionately short tail and heavy coat suggest he may be half Australian Shepherd.

He doesn't like weather. He was miserable on the warmer days last Summer (this boy was from Kentucky?) and he hateshateshates the snow. So, what does he like? Cuddling. Curling up on the couch or bed, with people or Pixie, or in a lap. Eating. Did I mention he likes to cuddle? His hobbies also include eating and cuddling. He is a dark red or liver color with vanilla-ice-cream blaze ('Bentley'), ruff, chest, belly and feet. He has tiny white sneakers on his hind feet, and long white gloves on his arms. It gives the impression of a workman in a maroon coverall, left unzipped with the sleeves rolled up. His eyes are small, amber with a slightly greenish cast, giving him a bit of a feral look. He loves to lean into you when you pet him, and if you stop too soon, he gently paws at you to remind you, "Hey, you got a handsome herding dog here who needs more attention."

Bliss and Addie are helping me out with a custom order this afternoon. Now to decide: Buttons or no?

love this shot...out with the old in with the new...(no one was hurt(me) taking this photo!!) LMAO!!!

These were the biggest kids in Washington Square Park, and there were a lot of kids!

Here is my snowman quilt. The center is actually a cloth book at I sewed together to make the center. It has the sweetest story about alittle snow family. I just LOVE this line of fabric called " Its snow fun" that I just wanted to make a simple quilt with large blocks so the fabric would show. I also backed it with some vintage snowmen flannel that I found at a garage sale. Check out all 4 pictures for closeups. The dachshund is " sparkie" she has already claimed it as hers. :-)
