No footprints or animal tracks yet in the first big snowfall. The cardinal seems to be confused by all snow.. what happened to autumn? And it was way below zero. An Arctic blast had arrived and the birds had puffed up their feathers to stay warm.

A sea view taken on a very cold morning when a heavy snowfall was approaching from the sea. Last rays of the sun are still in sight and there is lots of mist rising from the water. Taken in Suomenlinna, Helsinki, Finland.

No, that isn't our house...it's actually a detached barn or garage! I especially like the oak tree and the fence railing! But this was taken just over a week ago, when our heavy snow hit, and we actually lost power for nearly 12 hours! That was a first for us! Course, since then, we've had even more snow, and they're calling for blizzard-like conditions. It was -12 degrees this morning, but with the wind chill factor, it felt like -35 degrees! Brrrr! Cold, cold winter! Hope you all enjoy!

This shot was taken during the small snowfall we received on Monday. I was testing out my snow tires and ventured to the outskirts a bit.
I put a few more filters on in Topaz. i liked to bit of colour cutting through.

Sunny day after the morning snowfall in Lofoten, Norway.
In this period in the Lofoten four seasons succeed each other in the same day. After the cloudy morning with snowfall we had beautiful breakthroughs of the sun. It was a good time to catch the reflections of the snowed mountains in the fjord. Here near Vestpollen the view over the fjord and the Sildpollnes Church, this is one of the best sights of the eastern Lofoten.
