Got more snow today and I loved it. Went out in my warmest clothes and walked around in the woods. The quiet really speaks to my soul.

there was a day when I awoke and it had snowed and was still snowing and I quickly went outside and walked and walked and it continued to float down and gradually everything was transformed into a quiet winter wonderland, a day I'll never forget.
This IS a COLOR photo!!!!! The only thing I did was a slight crop to remove some power wires and add a bit of contrast and a white matte in picnik.... I should have had an umbrella because the camera was getting covered in fluffy snow as I stood there..but I don't have three arms anyway, so what can you do?
Some stunning conditions created by the 'Beast from the East'. I enjoyed a couple of very productive days around Lincolnshire. Here is the first of my offerings. this one will be added to my Heathland project, which you can view here.....
One of the rare snow days in Charlotte. Was so magical to see snow ,I went outside in the early morning to capture a few wintery photo's.
I haven't taken very many decent photos lately, have had to dig through the archives, found this one of a past snowday.
listening to Frank Sinatra singing "Laura"
now I want to rewatch the movie :)
Well, it was a snow-half-a-day actually... my daughter's school closed at lunchtime :)
I was out of my comfort zone with this shot, having swapped my prime lens for the zoom. I'd read an article about taken close-up shots with zooms and thought I'd give it a try. I love the effect... but missed the bigger aperture of the prime lens. Still, I'm going to keep the zoom on the camera for a while and practice!
A windy, snowy day. Good for experimenting with longer shutter speeds in order to show movement in the air. Canon FD 50mm f1.4 at f11.
seen 11 years ago from a room in the Chateau Granville Hotel. My sister had come to town for the weekend and we awoke to the sight of falling snow, it was very exciting, and it snowed all day, and we tromped around taking in the sights through an opaque blanket of fluttering snowflakes, it was beautiful.
So there is a possibility that we might receive some snow later this week or early next week, well, its the talk of the town. Everywhere I went yesterday while out and about I overheard conversations about the imminent "blizzard". People were "stocking up" in the grocery store, just in case, it was quite funny. And I'm sure that drivers are getting snow tires which we very seldom need here. If we do get some, I will of course be madly snapping away and enjoying walking as it falls. I'm sure many people in the rest of the country are sick of snow and wish it would go away very soon but here in Lotusland it is a rare treat :)
