Bugs inspecting my attempt at a still life a while back. Needless to say he did not like the pungent scent of the subject 😊

"My mother, she would look at me
She said, son, you've got a long road ahead
Son, some may roll and make you crazy
But don't forget these words I said
And don't forget what your name is
And know what the game is
From the North coast to the South coast
From country to country
Mind to mind
Generation to generation
From time to time
And to sniff across your mind
To go downtown
And to hang around
The House of The Rising Sun"

This early morning photo catches Leo taking in his surroundings as our vehicle, no doubt the first of the day interrupts its routine. The night before this pair had caused a good deal of a safari traffic jam but this morning it was a peaceful drive by and we only stopped for a moment with no others around.
As can be seen by my choice of lens we were very close.

The only one of the twenty species of armadillo to live outside of Latin America, the Nine-banded Armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus) makes its home throughout much of the southeast. This adorable one—with three of his friends—trundled across my path sniffing for insects with its spade-like nose. With their horrible eyesight, armadillos tend to rely on their sense of smell to figure out what is around them. I found this to be the case even with this chap, who came up to my sneaker and sniffed it before realizing that I was not a tree stump (or humungous and delicious beetle, perhaps).
here you can see the size difference. he is very large and she is very tiny. however; she thinks she is the bigger cat and acts that way also.
she found an old abandoned flower pot full of dirt and blanketed with leaves. the perfect lie down spot. of course, he thought she should leave but she was having no part of his pushiness. so on sniff and he left.
My Ruffy... doing one of her favorite things. Sniffing! LOL. Here she's on the patio, with some of the fallen leaves. Her "sniffer" has been working overtime.
Happy Sliders Sunday everyone! Where we can over-process to our hearts content. :-)
Hope you enjoy it.
was having a lovely walk with 2 of my friends, and our 7 German shepherds, when this alpaca came to say hello, all 7 German shepherds sat at the fence calmly while the alpaca greeted them one by one, was such a beautiful moment and shows how gentle German shepherds can be, wish i could have got in a better position to take the photo but wanted to catch the moment quickly and didnt want to scare the alpaca, I wasn't quite quick enough to capture the moment my white GSD was nose to nose with the alpaca, but still think its a sweet photo.
brown bears in katmai nat'l park, alaska. their sense of smell is estimated to be 7 times stronger than a bloodhound's and over 2,000 times stronger than ours.
