This is the branch of Greek National Library and it's a part of Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), in Athens.
Again the SNFCC in all it's nightly glory this time. The whole building rests on an artificial hill.
To the right, closer to the viewer, is the branch of the Greek National Library and to the back there is the Greek National Opera (Greek: Εθνική Λυρική Σκηνή), which is the country's state lyric opera and includes a 1,400-seat opera auditorium and a 400-seat black box theatre.
To the left and right next to Greek National Opera and Greek National Library respectively, one can see the uphill stairways that lead to the roof garden where there is an open cafe and a resting place to read and spend some free time enjoying the view either to Athens or to Saronic gulf, part of the Aegean sea.
On top of the opera house there is a canopy supported on steel columns. According to Renzo Piano, designer and architect of the construction, "the canopy represents a cloud hovering over the highest point of the hill".
