Sometimes you come across something that makes you say wow out loud. This was one of those moments. The morning sunlight was penetrating the trees and mist giving some fantastic rays of light.

I love a lone tree, but I never seem to be able to find a nice one. A gentle mist in the background of this image gave the separation I was after to let the tree stand on its own.

A path through the colourful heather on Snelsmore common, in full bloom during late summer. The sun began to rise through the trees and mist was still hanging low in the distance.

I loved this Silver Birch tree standing tall on its own in the heathland. As I looked for a composition to photograph it I couldn't avoid the mixed group of textures created by the plants here.

Spring time butterflies are slowly appearing. Here is a peacock butterfly I caught whilst out exploring some country lanes and enjoying the afternoon sunshine.
With a forecast for thick fog I knew I had to head to Snelsmore Common again to try and capture some images for the project in a different weather condition. This silver birch in the woodland near the car park caught my eye due to the unusual shape.

With the Heather in full bloom and a forecast looking promising for misty conditions I headed to Snelsmore Common near Newbury with George Edwards. The conditions were fantastic, and I was drawn to this scene. I love the colour contrasts of the green and purple.

Rained most of the morning but luckily stopped by the time I got round to walking the dog😊.
Today's panoramic with my iPhone is while walking the dog, a lovely view and sometimes nice to just sit on the bench and contemplate life!
I'd not been to Snelsmore Common in over a decade, even though it's only a few miles from home, somehow I'd just ignored it. However, after reading a blog post about the Heather on the Common by Jake Turner (www.jrturnerphotography.co.uk), I realised what I'd been missing and i had to have little look.
I spent a lovely few hours wandering round this weekend and although the heather was past its best, i still came away with a few images and lots of ideas for future ones. I'll definitely be back to explore the area further it's got so much potential.
