It's Chinese New Year!

Once again, I'm back to this popular and famous location of Singapore - Chinatown Central to take the amazing Chinese New Year lighting decoration at the crossroad, high up.

It's the Year of the Monkey; the Year of the Red Fire Monkey. You can read all about why is it so here: www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/2016ChineseAstrology.htm

Here I wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year. Wishing everyone luck in the Year of the Monkey.

Here are some greetings for all of you -

(This Monkey year, I give you five monkeys:)

悠闲富贵似猴子,

(the leisure and wealth of monkey-kind,)

无忧无虑比猿猴,

(the lightheartedness of apes and monkeys,)

聪明伶俐胜孙猴。

(and intelligence and wit surpassing the Monkey King.)

祝你猴年前程

(I wish you in the Monkey year ahead)

一个筋斗十万八千里,

(a somersault of 9,000 kilometers [18,000 li],)

Taken in one of the Toa Payoh Residential area, viewing the heartlands of Toa Payoh.

The nature of Toa Payoh and the urbanised area of Toa Payoh. In the foreground, there's the famous Toa Payoh Town Park where during the past, it was a famous spot for wedding photography, till today, there is model shoots and still on-going wedding photography happening in this area.

And to our left, we still the modernized side of Toa Payoh where you can see the Toa Payoh HDB Hub standing tall and green, and the famous five blocks of Toa Payoh which makes one of Toa Payoh iconic landmark. And, lastly you see the Toa Payoh first ever bus interchange in Singapore which is air-conditioned. So, that's how the other indoor bus interchange came about.

To the right is Jalan Rajah or known to many as Balestier.

A brief skyline view of Toa Payoh.

Hope you guys love it.

Cheers!

The fire escape on a derelict old red brick building in Greenock. I'd have liked the shadows to be a bit darker, but at this time of year in Scotland, you're lucky to have shadows at all.

Off the camera, .CR2 --> .jpg, and uploaded as is. As with my previous effort to snap architecture in Greenock, I also uploaded a black & white version of this shot.

"As a kid I had a dream - I wanted to own my own bicycle. When I got the bike I must have been the happiest boy in Liverpool, maybe the world. I lived for that bike. Most kids left their bike in the backyard at night. Not me. I insisted on taking mine indoors and the first night I even kept it in my bed." ~ John Lennon

Went into NYC today and did a walk from Penn Station to the Natural History Museum. Along the way I bought Spiderman tickets for Sunday and snapped architecture and street shots. When I arrived in Central Park, I thought to try panning shots. Did several that surprisingly turned out ok. This is the clearest one.

By the way, this is very close to where John Lennon lived in New York.

It's the firework season in Singapore at this moment of time.

'Cause it's nearing to our Nation's Birthday!

Here's a firework display during the National Education Show #1, spectacular fireworks display from the Singapore Sports Hub alongside the Kallang River and great view for the Tanjong Rhu Residential side.

Enjoy!

The viewpoint of a HDB in Toa Payoh. A place where the Queen Elizabeth II has set upon in Singapore 1972.

Everything still remains, the atmosphere, the design, the architectural, the ambiance. Just that the outside view has change much more while viewing from the corridor.

It changed a lot for sure, last I came here was the buildings were not as tall. Now emerging tall buildings appearing, giving Singapore a modernized and futuristic feel.

Showing the modernised buildings surrounding the interchange.

The famous 5 of Toa Payoh iconic landmarks and the tall green familiar building of Toa Payoh - HDB Hub.

Hope this works out to all.

A group shot with an oldie film style of the participants and members who came for the Toa Payoh Heritage-Photography Trail.

Hot and humid weather but its a good sign for us. Great lighting, great shots, great images.

Thank you all for the effort and participation!

its funny how some people react when they find me pointing my camera straight up at a building... they look up, too. .. and back at me ... spin to see what i"m seeiing... then look back at me like I'm crazy

... maybe they're right.

I think this building is on Argyle ... its definitely in Hollywood - somewhere between Hollywood Blvd and Sunset. I was "cruising" past in my car during rush hour ... so I had an opportunity to snap this shot out my passenger window.

I'm standing in one tower looking up & out to see the other.
