Just for the record the title refers to the transition from water to sky and vice versa and not the current state of the Brexit process!!! This gem was first shown to me 6 years ago by a friend. In the summertime this is a very popular spot and behind me there is a really nice beach bar but right now is very calm and peaceful. On this visit and right after I set my tripod I tried to cross to the left of the scene to put my camera bag down. In the process I slipped on the rock and while trying to save the gear (who wouldn’t 😂😂) I obtained a couple of bruises and cuts. That was not enough to stop me as I really liked the ambience and the soft tones. One would think that this is the end of the story but no...after sun went down and I packed away I decided to wash my hand in the sea to clean it; as I was approaching the water I see my phone (in slow motion) falling from my pocket into the water. I can tell two things: 1. I am surprised that my phone still works and 2. It’s not pleasant going in the water in January!

Thank you for looking and sorry for the essay but I thought it was quite funny (retrospectively obviously!)

Despite everything I had a very calming tune in mind: youtu.be/pkitw9LUB88

A calm day for 937, which is just an empty coal train today. The Midland Line hopper on its way to Hillside workshops for repairs.

There was still a bit of haze from the California fires around giving the moon an almost golden color vs. the lunar eclipse red it was earlier. These are actually human-made falls that resulted from a blown out water impoundment in the area. Nonetheless, it makes for an enchanting moonlit scene.

Shot Info: Same location/night as the previous self-portrait. No light-painting, the sky is 1 exposure, whereas the foreground is an HDR/natural frame composite. I rarely do HDR at night, but I thought it worked here.

Symphyotrichum laeve (Smooth blue aster)

Symphyotrichum laeve (formerly Aster laevis) is a flowering plant native to Canada and the United States.

The flower heads are arranged in clusters (panicles). Each flower head has 13 to 23 ray florets with pale to dark blue or purple petals (laminae), and 19 to 33 disc florets that start out yellow and eventually turn purplish-red. The whole flowerhead measures 13 to 25 millimeters (1⁄2 to 1 in) across.

Smooth snow drifts contrast with the sharp barbs on a fence near Bennington, Idaho. We had a couple of inches of new snow over the last few days and a lot of wind blew it into drifts around piles of plowed snow. Late afternoon shadows help define the drift shapes.

Cruciata laevipes is a species of flowering plant in the family Rubiaceae. It is commonly known as crosswort, smooth bedstraw or Luc na croise in Gaelic. The Latin epithet laevipes refers to the smooth stalk.

This perennial sprawling plant can grow to a height of 15–70 cm (6–28 in), spreads by seeds and stolons and has, unusually amongst this group, yellow hermaphrodite flowers. The inner flowers are male and soon fall off, whilst the outer are bisexual and produce the fruit. The flowers smell of honey. Of the whorls of four leaves, only two in each group are real leaves, the other two being stipules. It is associated with arbuscular mycorrhiza that penetrate the cortical cells of the roots. In the United Kingdom it flowers April to June. Pollination is by bees and flies.
