I was attempting to get a really cool kitty portrait here. He insisted on head-butting the camera over and over, so I gave up, and this is the result. ba-dum-bum.

I am grateful for some awesome flickr friends with so much TALENT. This gorgeous hat on Miss A's head was a gift from the incredibly talented Theresa aka SweeTcakes Theresa, but as you can see, she has more talent then just cakes and photograohy . . oh and graphic design too!!!! We got it yesterday in the mail & believe it or not, It is even more gorgeous in person. Thank you so much Theresa, more pics to come soon :)
i had to texture-ize this. i had smoosh/blanket lines on my face. i went to the chiropractor again today, and then to the wonderful cara for a massage. i gotta say, i'm feeling a ton better and now i can turn my head to check lanes while driving. it's great.

This is my son Lucas on his first birthday in December, digging into his first birthday smash cake. For anyone who doesn't know what a smash cake is, it's a miniature cake, separate from the main, larger birthday cake, designed just for a baby on their first birthday. Instead of letting them dig into the cake that your guests are going to eat, or giving them just a slice, they get a tiny cake all to themselves...to smash, smoosh, lick, crumble...whatever their little heart desires. A mini cake makes for a better photo op as well ;-)
There are bakeries that, if you buy your baby's first birthday cake from them, they offer a free smash cake along with it. This is my 3rd child, and the first I've heard of a smash cake. They're always coming up with something new!
Another reason I wanted to post this is because it was a special, bittersweet moment. It was wonderful to watch my son enjoy himself, eating cake and having fun on his birthday with his family and friends....but it was sad to see my 3rd and last child already reach his first birthday, when it feels like he was just born...

I was asked for some better pics of dioramas from our last show. So here goes...
I had been wanting to build a 263 for several years now. Made two attempts, just could not get it the way I saw it in my mind. Well, Brick Monkey and Bluebrixx solved my problem. :) I changed some things here and there to account for pieces in tan not being available. I need to "smoosh" some parts together a lil better. But my big arsed hands tend to "smash" instead of "smoosh" LOL. The lil 2x2 wedge piece isn't available in tan, yet. Hopefully then I can change out the lil piece on both sides. The 263 can fit 3 figs, and has an engine. The LBG version in the instructions looks pretty good as is, but I gotta have my tan!!

Yeah, I think I'll stick with this name. What would heroes be without their villains. Put this lot together the other day, same concept as the justice league. So, onto the members of the legion itself. I went for villains that paralleled the League members as much as possible, sticking with one big villain per hero. So, the Legion of Doom is made up of (L to R):
Ma'alefa'ak - I went for the look he had in JL:Doom, with the raggedy cape and bracelets. Had to give him a Goblin head, as I couldn't find anything decent with red eyes in olive green.
The Reverse Flash - Pretty much the same as the Flash, just with a visor added on. It's kinda hard to see, but i gave him a head with sith eyes, just to make him look a bit more evil.
Cheetah - This is actually the second time I've used the luminara body and legs, just the first time I've shown it. Managed to smoosh a headdress together, kinda like the sort of thing she has in injustice 2.
Lex Luthor - Used another Anakin head for Lex, just to make him look a bit sicker. We'll go with...Kryptonite poisoning for the reason. Thought I'd give him a more slimed down version of his suit, just to make him look a bit skinnier.
The Joker - I've wanted to use the Jestro head since I first saw it, but I never got my hands on it. Works really well for an older Joker, makes him look really menacing.
Sinestro - Used this look before too, only real change was the hair, again, just to make him look a bit older.
Black Manta - Was gonna go with Ocean master, not quite sure why I didn't. anywho, this guy was a bit tricky, as mecabricks doesn't seem to have his helmet, so I had to make do with a first order engineer (?) one with a visor smooshed into it.
So, that's the Legion of Doom. added their logo in too, but it's not quite as good as the justice league one. As I said on the last one, imma keep going with these, just cos I enjoy being able to come up with minifigs and not being limited by what I have and don't have. So, as always, please lemme know what you think :D
You can't tell from this shot with the wings folded, but these little guys are a bright, metallic blue. I found this one hanging out in the undergrowth. Good thing I didn't smoosh it.
I'm having a tough time covering cakes with fondant lately. With this mini cake I used the dried panel method. My only concern with this method is people don't know how to eat it because it's so hard. Using the regular method my cake tends smoosh and I don't get sharp corners. Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Outfit - #SMOOSH - Aubrey Outfit (bought at Paragon)
Yet another team render from the near future, Suicide squad this time. This future is a bit nearer than the other two, maybe 4/5 years. Didn't bother with a logo for two reasons: 1, Enchantress would have obscured it, cos of the flying and all, 2, a big 'SS' in the background would be....well, yeah. Anywho, here's the Suicide squad. Kinda went for a basic lineup, didn't differ too much from the norm. probably should have used a brighter background, but black'll do. So, the members of the suicide squad are (L to R):
King Shark - Couldn't think of a decent look for him, so I just ent for torn prison overalls. Quite pleased with how well the Drax torso and head work for him.
Killer frost - Pretty basic look, nothing all too special here. Gave her a glittery arm, cos Ice and that. Maybe should have gone for a transparent, more subtle colour, but this works fine. The glitter kinda looks like snow.
Captain Boomerang. The absence of trench coats meant I had to go for a shorter coat for him, hence the official torso. And I've just realised I forgot to change his hand colour. Let's pretend they're reddish brown.
Deadshot - went for a more 'gentleman assassin' look for him, though maybe i should have wedged a hat on top of his helmet. The dark red is supposed to be more of an over coat type thing, hence the furry lining around his neck.
Harley Quinn - Think she might be my favourite of the bunch, really happy with how she turned out. Only thing I'm not greatly happy with is that you can't really see her hammer. It was the other way around, but it obscured Katana. so I switched it around.
Katana - Also one of my favourites, really happy I could get the scarfs to smoosh together to make a waist band type thing. The legs (think they're from a SW freemaker set) work really well too, better than the Batman boots I was gonna use.
KGBeast - pretty basic, maybe I shouldn't have included the breather mask on him, just cos it covers his angry face a bit too much. The gun arm is pretty much what I did for Aquaman, except this time you can actually see it. Added a pirate gun to it too, just to thicken it up a bit.
Enchantress - Pretty happy with how she turned out, maybe should have added some more flames, just to show the spooky, magic-ness a bit more.
So, that's the Suicide squad. For now, I'm out of DC teams, so I've moved onto Marvel teams, which I am a lot less familiar with. Nevertheless, I'll pull through. So, as always, please lemme know what you think, and if you have any suggestions for other teams you'd like to see me try my hand at :D
