This was shot after sunset. waited awhile till I could freeze the waters....thanks to my lens I can't use any filters ! Just managed enough light to get that lil snail on the rock. It felt like a skywalk or smokescreen
DRI from 3 exposures. RAW tuned thru ACR. No filters.

The FRB is shrouded in all kinds of things - fog, political smokescreens, uncertainty, to name but a few.
Hopefully the bridge really will open again on 04 January 2016. I feel most sorry for the cancer patients having to travel miles extra for daily treatment in Edinburgh.

Montana Rail Link’s Paradise local crosses the Clark Fork over Bridge 218 at Paradise heading eastbound to switch Tricon Timber in St. Regis on the morning of February 23, 2015. After idle time sitting in front of the Paradise depot all weekend, the pair of GP9s lay down a great smokescreen over the river as they depart town. I miss the Paradise local—and will soon be missing MRL itself…
Two young birch trees are standing directly on the precipice and swaying back and forth to a melody that probably only they can hear. They froze in mid-movement.
Their branches are covered by a layer of ice and now, in front of the smokescreen, you can see them beautifully and in detail. A real feast for the eyes.
Like the music of the birches, so is this photo. No epic landscape in grandiose light. no This picture comes along quietly, you have to take your time, get involved and let it sink in. And maybe you can hear the music after all.
Zwei Junge Birken stehen direkt am Abgrund und wiegen sich, nach einer Melodie, die wohl nur sie hören können, hin und her. Mitten in der Bewegung sind sie erstarrt.
Ihre Äste sind von einer Eisschicht überzogen und nun, vor der Nebelwand wundervoll und detailliert zu sehen. Eine wahre Augenweide.
So wie die Musik der Birken, so ist auch dieses Foto. Keine epische Landschaft bei grandiosem Licht. Nein. Diese Bild kommt leise daher, man muss sich dafür Zeit nehmen, sich darauf einlassen und es wirken lassen. Und vielleicht könnt ihr die Musik ja doch hören.

A wall of fog that builds up in front of you in the early morning. You stand amazed in front of such a natural spectacle and feel so small as a human being.

Some lovely mist the other morning near Aberfoyle. The sun lit up the mist as it rose and the wind swept it into streams like cascading water.
Ahead there may be a period of political theater.

56118 puts on a display that is characteristic of a Class 56 that's been sat idling for a number of minutes/hours!
The Large Logo Grid has just departed from Blyth Power Station and made its way around the curve to Freeman's Level Crossing (trust me it is there somewhere!) before the power has been applied as 56118 sets off to collect another load of coal. The driver can be seen looking back to see the rear of his train....good luck with that!
I wonder if the signalman at Freeman's was supplied with a gas mask!?

Bei einem Spaziergang am späten konnte ich fotografieren wie sich die Nebelwand durch's Tal schob und immer mehr Landschaft hinter der grauen Wand verschwand.
On a walk in the late afternoon, I was able to photograph how the wall of fog pushed through the valley and more and more landscape disappeared behind the gray wall.

This is a shot of our setting sun as seen through the smoke filled skies in Bridal Falls BC, Canada during the horrible fires in the US... I've taken this simple, plain, smoky shot of the sun for the simple reason to remember all those people who
are suffering as a result of these fires and to remember all those people who are helping in any way they can. I pray for your strength and resolve during this difficult time...

A quick throwback to summertime and the famous railway line leading to Hel.
In not very suitable lighting conditions, SU42-521 leads a delayed Regio train from Gdynia Główna to Hel. The smokescreen created by the locomotive could be seen for kilometers and the entire train was barely able to make it up the hill located just after the stop in Swarzewo. The defect (broken turbocharger) also caused the delay, as the train was picking up one or two minutes between each stop.
